To Dare is To Do
"To Dare is to Do" is the motto of Tottenham Hotspur football club, originally noted in its latin " Audere est Facere. This will be the theme at our Toastmasters club this week culminating in a Success Masters session on Saturday for students and alumni of Sheridan College. This weekend Tottenham closed the gap between themselves and Chelsea to 4pts and on Saturday at the same time we are running the Toastmasters meeting, Chelsea and Tottenham meet for a FA Cup Semi-Final showdown. So that is a part of the reason why this theme was selected, but the focus of it has more to do with "Do you dare to dream?"

I totally agree with them, I have been following Tottenham since 1968 when I began supporting them as a 7 year old and this is the best football they have played in my life-time. Until they actually start winning trophies, they cannot be compared to the 1961 Tottenham team that became the first team to win the double. Arsenal have a $200 million transfer kitty yet they probably cannot keep Alexis Sanchez. Manchester United was meant to be the biggest team in the land (that is why Mourinho always wanted to manage them) but they might lose Griezman to Chelsea. If Arsenal and Chelsea price Manchester United out of key players, it is going to be tough for them to turnaround their transition quickly to a supreme force in football. If Liverpool qualify for the Champions League then Manchester United MUST win the Europa League this year (if they are unable to finish fourth) and that will be decided when they face off against a must win versus Manchester City. Lose that game and the route to the Champions League is through winning the Europa League - if Liverpool get there and Utd don't, that immediately makes Liverpool a top draw attraction (after all they have won the top prize in Europe FIVE times), if players around Europe see them as a re-awakened giant, Manchester United once again could be playing in the shadows of Liverpool. Tottenham have one huge problem - their form at Wembley under Pochettino is AWFUL. That they might be playing all their home games at Wembley is going to be a drawback if they don't adjust to the bigger pitch. With the White Hart Lane pitch being smaller and compact - the energetic style of Spurs delivers results. Pep also won't have two indifferent years at City.
