Successful & Inspiring Female Entrepreneurs

For a long time, men were at the top of the business world. It wasn’t until the rise of influential businesswomen like Coco Chanel and Estée Lauder that more women pursued entrepreneurship.

Today you can find women at the head of many industries including, technology, design, publishing, beauty, and more!

To inspire more women to endure the journey of entrepreneurship, below you will find a few women who have made a name for themselves in the present day.

Huda Kattan, Founder of Huda Beauty

After quitting her finance career in Dubai, Huda became a freelance makeup artist and began writing a blog in 2010. As a makeup artist, Huda struggled to find fake eyelashes that were great quality. Taking matters into her own hands, Huda started her own business, Huda Beauty, with her two sisters in 2013. Today, the brand sells over 140 products and brings in more than $2 million in annual sales.

J.K. Rowling, Best-Selling Author

While Rowling is now an exceptionally well-known author, she once faced many obstacles. Before the success of the Harry Potter series, Rowling was jobless and penniless. Even after finishing the manuscript for Harry Potter, Rowling was rejected from multiple book publishers, until Bloomsbury, a publishing house in London.

After this publishing company took a chance on Rowling, her books became a world-wide loved story. Over time, the books have sold over 450 copies, have been made into movies, and completely transformed Rowling’s life.

Sara Blakely, Founder of SPANX

As she was getting ready for a party, Sara Blakely realized that she did not have the right undergarment to create a smooth appearance under white pants. Grabbing a pair pantyhose with a control top, Blakely cut off feet and started a SPANX revolution. Since that first DIY, SPANX has launched an entire line of bras, underwear, and leggings.

In 2012 she was named by the world’s youngest, self-made female billionaire by Forbes Magazine. SPANX can now be found in most retail stores in the U.S. and is found in more than 50 countries.

Cher Wang, Co-Founder, and Chairperson of HTC Corporation

Cher is arguably the most successful female entrepreneurs in the world. Much of Wang’s success is due to her hard work and dedication. After spending years manufacturing cell phones for other companies, Wang decided to set up her own company HTC, which in 2010 accounted for 20% of the smartphone market.

Cher Wang has been featured on Forbes world’s billionaire’s list in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Today HTC remains one of the largest competitors for smartphones among companies like Apple, Sony, and Samsung.
