Facing The Fire: Release The Dragon

It is our responses to these people, (or conflicting parts of self), that creates what we refer to as "karma." It is why we are all having this human experience in the first place. We are here to work through this karmic conundrum, either consciously or unconsciously, in order to evolve. The experience is the teacher...Our response is the gateway to evolution. It is all a matter of choice.

We all have beautiful parts of ourselves as well. However, the love and compassion we possess can often be shrouded by feelings of anger and discord following an experience of extreme fear or trauma. When we are in pain, it is very difficult to see that these events cast a shadow on the very areas of our lives in need of healing.

"Where we choose to focus our energy will determine the experience of the reality that plays out for us."

For many of us, getting back on track after being derailed by trauma can take a lifetime (or many lifetimes) to heal.  As we seek a better understanding of our "selves", the external circumstances we attract into our lives all serve that purpose. It takes conscious effort to respond accordingly. If we choose love, we gain power. If we choose anguish, we lose power. Just try to remember this...That which we seek to better understand will always be attracted to us. 

The different aspects of ourselves are always seeking expression. As we develop an awareness of these splintered personalities, (yes, we all have multiple personalty disorder), we are responsible for which ones we choose to give the power of expression. Where we choose to focus our energy will determine the experience of the reality that plays out for us.

Imagine yourself embodying each of these "personalities" and ask yourself if you are willing to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Which would you choose to nurture and which would you choose to release. That, in a nutshell, is the purpose of our lives here. To create an experience, through our thoughts and actions, that best serves the evolution of our souls. 

We are constantly faced with the challenges that force us to break the cycle of worn out old habits that no longer serve our growth. Just the other day I was sitting in my parked car waiting for my daughter to get out of school when someone backed right into my driver's side door. When I noticed it coming, I leaned on the horn to no avail, and then heard the crunching of the door.

My heart sank as I looked up to see my daughter standing directly in front of my car, her eyes wide open like a deer in headlights. She looked scared to death. I could almost hear her thoughts..."Please Mom, please don't kill the teacher!" 

I was acutely aware that how I responded to this situation would leave a lasting impression on the most important person in my world...Be very calm, I said to myself, as I slowly got out of the car. Much to my surprise, the door panel had popped back out into position...Thank you Subaru...I love your cars!

"A situation of ugliness has the potential to create things of great beauty."

There was a pretty good scratch but no dent. I ran my hand along the edges to see if it had penetrated the paint. I looked up at the woman who had hit me, her face was pained..."You know," I said, "I think I can buff this out."  I could hear the release of her breath, the look of relief on her face palpable.

"Are you sure?" she asked, handing me her insurance information anyway. I told her I would do what I could to avoid anyone having to deal with an insurance company. Now that is a painful experience! She thanked me and we went our separate ways. As we drove home my daughter said, "Mom I am so proud of you...You didn't even get mad!"

Hearing those words from the most impressionable person in my life made my heart feel lighter. I suddenly didn't feel so bad about the scratch on the car anymore. As a matter of fact, the situation in all its ugliness created for me a thing of great beauty. My daughter was proud of me and quite frankly, so was I.
