ENIGMA OF COMFORT!

ENIGMA OF COMFORT!

Familiarity is what I crave

Who wants to leave its comfort zone and ready to embrace?

Welcoming jeopardy with rave?

We all love to enjoy security and safety

What familiarity alone can ensure with serendipity!

Nobody knows actually the tenure of familiarity

When external world would reveal it weird attribute haughtily

Hardly can we apprehend

What sinister may engulf us with series of errand

Unknowingly we caught into the vortex

To obliterate ourselves without any pretext

Thus our destiny being scripted

Deviating from our comfort zone can only yield our obituary in haste!

None can envisage the trauma of discomfort

It contains the pain of travail to unleash a bolt

Containing new elements with unknown flame

We embrace its presentation with a new anthem

Discarding the previous with a new protocol

Thus we once more indulged to be confined in a new role

Unfamiliarity turns into familiarity once more

We tend not to break its design in galore

What an enigma familiarity frame

We embark to it without any shame!

EXPECT THE BEST.

ON WHAT COMES.

Comfort and discomfort is a unique dual

Both lies in the same situation and prevail

Hardly have we comprehended its melodrama

Going out of comfort zone, we consider it as belligerent panorama

But it may introduce a new melody

Which synchronize us with a new symphony?

Thus our civilization evolves and progress

Where only humanity makes its vibrant room to ingress

It alone can produce a tune

To ensure myriad to attune!

Debasish Majumder Great work Debasish. Taking a risk and stepping away from comfort can bring " a new melody", and you state: "Comfort and discomfort is a unique dual".

Wonderful poem Debasish Majumder question below, agree... how to face challenges and act accordingly? I see so many residents helping others, Emergency Responders, National Guard and even news journalists with boats are rescuing others. That has to bring some comfort.

In our pursuit of seeing a comfort zone as an anathema to productivity and growth, we sometimes underestimate the importance of doing boring very well. There are people who do jobs that we would not like doing that if they did not, would crash the system. Boring needs to be appreciated as much as the comfort zone we want to challenge.

Excellent poetic message, Debasish, as usual! In order to move forward in life and reach new heights, we must get off the proverbial "hamster wheel" and take a "leap of faith" into a future with no guarantees. But if one never tries, than one will never know what could have been possible. A would recommend an American best-selling book about this topic which is plainly written an makes for an easy read -- although the lessons learned are tremendous. It's called, "Who Moved My Cheese" and tells the story of two mice who take different paths in the maze of life... https://www.amazon.com/Moved-Cheese-Spencer-Johnson-M-D/dp/0743582853 FYI - I finally left my day job with U.S. Government after 24-years of public service at federal agencies, the White House and Congress (yes, I started young, right out of college). Now I feel liberated from the DC-based bureaucracy and look forward with eager exuberance to what comes next. Carpe diem!
