OLD AGE SANCTUARY!

OLD AGE SANCTUARY!

Early men find haven

In cave and cavern

They lived with amity

Aspiration to repudiate cave was the affair of immense gravity

Plethora of innovations they mooted out

Established their supreme intellectual faculty in loud

In the passage of time human civilization progressed

Where they only devout them to ingress!

Human life evolved in various phase

From childhood to adulthood they finally reach to their apex

Youthfulness is full of enthusiasm and vigor

Facilitated their life to succeed with clamor

Love, faith, romanticism and chivalry

Youth manifests immense potential with bravery

Brought changes to the fashion of life

A charisma reveals out of its intellectual might

Ensured the wheels of civilization to roll on

Where life appears as boon to human spectrum!

But youthful phase is not constant

It evolves in various stages and ultimately reaches to its concluding part

Where perpetual summation finally makes life to discard

Life gradually reaches to the height of irrelevance without any hype

Valor, vigor, spirit gradually give adieu

Eventually life disappears from human milieu

Struggling, slogging are the only features

Aged life thus concluded in an ignominious hue!

I wonder whether modern time is truly a boon

Where we all are busy in our respective tune

Making our life more amenable

We continuously strive to discard which is condemnable

It is the time and space

Paving our progress

We invented myriad tool

To make our society applauded to drool!

But sad affair we ourselves hurl

Where aged have no room to soothe, only to growl

We construe a sanctuary

Where they only breathe their last breathe with agony

We christened their resort as old age home

Discarded them from mainstay of life at random

Where they only shed their tears in plaintive mind

Like and old cuckoo bird

Unable to produce mellifluous sound in spring

Cough off only blood!

Old men in Old age home

Their conditions are like wander without any home

Their utterances are in dearth, they only capable to groan

In the loveliest season spring

They are unable to produce mellifluous tune, only grim

Their efforts only vomit blood

Only to make their vision blurred!

If only all minds could contemplate the key to what is old, which is making the old new again. The word missing from your poem is "Elders" - I like to focus on elder wisdom rather than the word "old". When I look at some young people, they have become old in their thinking but this is not a good thing. We also have aged the word "elderly" when the word "elders" carries actual wisdom. When wisdom grows old it starts losing it's energy, but we are products of our own thinking whether we die at 19 or at 99 and while entropy is a real thing - wisdom is my focus, even though we perpetuate negative references about being old in our increasingly ageist society. Great poem BTW and always a pleasure to read and more importantly to make us all think !

it is funny how cave men has become an insult at least its pejorative in this part of the world, yet probably a lot more to learn from them than any others :-)

I believe in his lovely poem dear Debasish Majumder introduces a definition for toxic environments. He writes "In the loveliest season spring they are unable to produce mellifluous tune, only grim" I didn't say toxic people because they could be the victim of a toxic environment. But then who makes an environment toxic? Immensely enjoyed reading this buzz.
