DR. HOOK: Cover to Cover

Mirriam Johnson, known professionally as Jessi Colter (born May 25, 1943), is an American country music artist who is best known for her collaboration with her husband, country singer and songwriter Waylon Jennings, and for her 1975 country-pop crossover hit "I'm Not Lisa". She was one of the few female artists to emerge from the mid-1970s "outlaw" movement. After meeting her future husband, Colter pursued a career in country music.

In 1981, Colter and her husband released a duet album entitled Leather and Lace. The album's first single, "Storms Never Last," was written by Colter, and the second single, "The Wild Side of Life"/"It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels," was also a major hit in 1981, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Country Chart. The album was certified Gold in sales by the RIAA that year, Colter's second RIAA-certified album.

It's been said that the marriage of Jessi Colter and Waylon Jennings is one of the best love stories in country music. Colter helped tame Waylon’s drug addiction, and the pair had a loving and musical partnership until Jennings passed away in 2002. “Storms Never Last” is a song about passing through the hardships of marriage, and knowing that their love for one another will endure.

Pleasure and Pain is the eighth album from the country rock band Dr. Hook. It features two U.S. Top 10 hits, "Sharing the Night Together" and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman." Both songs also became chart hits in the UK, Canada and Australia. In addition, it was the Band's first gold album.

From 1977 to 2014's Timeless CD, “Storms Never Last” appeared on 16 Dr. Hook compilation albums.
