How about a well thought out lifestyle that could improve how you look and how you feel? I thought I was well informed, however, IĀ had no idea about the health benefits of fasting. From heart health to weight loss, increased production of growth hormone, and lower metabolism just to name a few. There is clear, supportive advice for trying a number of different models of fasting plans, all of which seem very doable.Ā

So by eating the right food, in the right time, staying hydrated and exercising, can you can build the body of your dreams? I'm proof that this works! I'm 67 years old and am enjoying the benefits of intermittent fasting. I have notĀ writtenĀ a book or started a YouTube Vlog. I did however, spend the last 12 months learning and studying about "The Essentials of Sport andĀ Exercise Nutrition" by Precision Nutrition.
The content of this program was way beyond my expectations.Ā In addition to learning how nutrition really works, I began to understand how to think about nutrition.Ā

I learned about the importance of the Human Growth Hormone (HGH)and the role it plays in the normal development of children and adolescents. In particular I was interested in HGH and aging.
Human growth hormone (HGH) is a vital component of the human endocrine system. It is secreted by the pituitary gland, a small gland located at the base of the brain that produces several hormones. In childhood and adolescence this hormone is necessary to promote growth in height. In adulthood, its presence leads to a healthier body composition and is responsible for such important jobs such as:
- Keeping your body lean
- Decreasing fat accumulation
- Strengthening your bones
- Protecting your organs from the decline that occurs with age
- Promoting more rapid hair and nail growth
- Improving circulation
- Giving a more favorable cholesterol profile
- Helping protect you from the consequences of aging
When HGH is released, it induces the liver to make insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and this hormone then triggers the growth of bones and body tissues. HGH is especially important for normal growth in children. Indeed, most of our knowledge of HGH comes from studying children, however, Ā in adults, a medical deficiency of growth hormone may result from disease, tumors, surgery or radiation that destroys critical areas in the pituitary. This can lead to weight gain, cholesterol abnormalities, heart disease, fatigue, decreased immune response, loss of muscles and osteoporosis.
Unfortunately for seniors, the growth hormone passed its peak during puberty, and then gradually declined after the age of 30. However, the normal pituitary never totally stops its production of HGH.
The good news. Studies cited by physicians feel that lower levels of HGH in aging adults results in diminished energy, muscle loss and decreased tissue repair, however, studies have also shown some positive effects in individuals whose HGH levels are brought up to the levels considered normal for young individuals.
Also remember,Ā the human body was designed to be very efficient during times of scarcity and stress.Ā When food scarcity was a common reality, the body developed specific pathways to be very efficient in times of fasting.Ā

- High intensity exercise.Ā
This combination promotes hormones that improve tissue healing and metabolic processes.The net effect of this is healthy tissue repair and favourable effects on body composition and anti-aging qualities.
I have always heard of intermittent fasting and anti-aging. But myself being very active and aging, I did not think that intermittent fasting would have a positive effect on me let alone anti-aging. Now that I have learned more about the process involved, I know that doing thisĀ could make my body more efficient in using my nutrients, and vitamins, and energy! Ā Is it worth learning "How to Look and Feel Your Very Best" I think so.
