APOSTLE---[Special messenger] [2.]
There is no other foundation to lay except Jesus Christ! An Apostle receives a particular revelation from God to equip him in his ministry to the saints. Apostles will build up and strengthen the saints in their relationship with God.
Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.
[2 Corinthians 12:19]
***The Apostle guides Ministries and saints into the Will of God and the outworking of God’s will. The Apostle helps engender the spirit of Unity flowing out from the Godhead into the body of the church. His anointing will get elders working together in unity.
The Apostle chief passion is to reach people with the call of God. He will father sons, [guide the young people, both physically and spiritually in the Body of Christ, and disciple and encourage these sons, and so raise up leadership, and the five fold ministry in the Church].
His main ministry is to the elders, and the sons he is raising up. For this reason it is important to have the 5-fold ministry in place, to provide balance in the Church for the saints.
Apostleship is a function/responsibility, and has nothing to do with status - only service. God gives the grace and the ability required to those he sends.
Paul was sent to several different churches.
[Ephesians 1:1, Galatians 1:1, 1 Corinthians 1:1, Colossians 1:1, etc.]
Paul had oversight over these churches in the spirit. An Apostle plants Churches, or stays in one place to train people into the five-fold Ministry.
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.
[1 Corinthians 3:6]
The Apostle must have touched all the other ministries; although they would have been focused in a particular ministry.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts.
