BRAZEN ALTAR - *DEAD TO THE OLD MAN*

BRAZEN ALTAR *DEAD TO THE OLD MAN*

*PEOPLE CANNOT BE WASHED BY THE WORD UNTIL SIN DIES

THE BRAZEN ALTAR

THE BURNT OFFERING

- A VOLUNTARY OFFERING

of sacrifice & death to flesh and self, the PRICE paid by Jesus Christ for us, fulfilling our responsibility, thus we can by faith appropriate the PRICE paid by Jesus Christ, coming to die for our sins

The pattern: - Exodus 27:1 - 8.

"Build an altar of acacia wood, three cubits high; it is to be square, five cubits long and five cubits wide. Make a horn at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar are of one piece, and overlay the altar with bronze. Make all the utensils of bronze--its pots to remove the ashes, and its shovels, sprinkling bowls, meat forks and fire pans. Make a grating for it, a bronze network. Put it under the ledge of the altar so that it is halfway up the altar. Make poles of acacia wood for the altar and overlay them with bronze. The poles are to be inserted into the rings so that they will be on two sides of the altar when it is carried. Make the altar hollow, out of boards. It is to be made just as you were shown on the mountain."

Symbology as follows: -

* altar = place of slaughter, sacrifice, death, or incense [prayer]. Can be of earth, stone, brass or gold.

* acacia wood = incorruptible wood, non decaying

* wood, humanity of Christ. Root out of dry ground, Stem of Jesse.

* bronze = judgement against sin of disobedience.

* three = number of Godhead, number of divine completeness, perfect testimony.

* square = four = earth, world, four corners, 4 winds, 4 seasons.

* five = grace, offerings, ministry.

* horn = power, strength, defense.

* its position is directly in front of the entrance, we become aware of our of our sinful condition,

after seeing Jesus as He is.

*it was made from wood=(flesh) covered with brass=(suffering) 3 cubits high, length & breadth

5 cubits. Grate 1/2 cubit high.

*its purpose is for sacrificing of our sins, as salvation is the only entrance to God's presence.

*the Power of the Blood is our experience here, the Blood takes care of our

Past: - "In Him we have redemption [deliverance and salvation] through His Blood, the remission [forgiveness] of our offences [shortcomings and trespasses], in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favour......"

Ephesians 1:7.

Present: - "But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses [removes us from all sin and guilt - keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations."

1 John 1:7.

Future: -"Therefore, since we are now justified - acquitted, made righteous and brought into right relationship with God - by Christ's blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God."

Romans 5:9.

*it is the experience of salvation, the ministry of the evangelist.

the Fire initially comes from God's Presence.

"And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness - uprightness of heart and right standing with God and about judgement."

John 16:8.

thereafter the priests maintain the Fire.

"Go then and make disciples of the nations, baptising them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and lo, I am with You all the days - perpetually, uniformly and on every occasion - to the very close and consummation of the age. Amen - so let it be.

Matthew 28: 19:20.

The longer you stay in prayer, the more the flesh is crucified, and the Spirit becomes alive, and every part of you surrenders.

"As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God."

Psalm 42:1.

"O God, You are my God; earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for you, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in dry and weary land, where no water is......."

Psalm 63:1.

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Ephesians 2:19 - 22.

`......It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.'

Leviticus 1:17b.

The New Testament equivalent is found in the scripture: -

`......to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship...'

Romans 12:1.

We find that the brazen altar was made as follows: -

# 3 cubits high; 3 = Godhead, wholeness

# 5 cubits length and breadth; 5 = Grace, offerings

# Grate: 1/2 cubit high; halfway to oneness, wholeness

Made from wood [symbolizing our flesh] covered with brass, symbolizing judgement and suffering]

The burnt offering of our lives finds its expression in the dross of our lives being consumed `in the fire of the Holy Spirit' as we travel life's journey - our brazen altar.

It was called a burnt offering because the whole sacrifice was burnt inside and outside:

# outside - our actions, appearance, etc.

# inside - our mind it also speaks of the Apostle because

unless the will, intellect and emotions, as well as flesh, have become a burnt sacrifice before the Lord, there is no way anybody in ministry can function in the demands of the Apostolic function.

It is a completely voluntary offering of oneself; from where one is in life's walk.

* The Good News meeting is under the care of the evangelical anointing. The function there is to train and equip the saints; and also to keep the saints focused on the symbolic Gate and Brazen Altar in the courtyard.

.... who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God,

.................Hebrews 9:14
