PROLOGUE 2 TO GRACE 5 MEETING HANDBOOKS [2.]

The reason the Work: 5 fold is entrusted to the 5 fold ministry is to maintain and preserve the local nature of the church: cell group, because the Work: 5 fold extends beyond the locality or local church: cell group. There is a vast difference between spiritual and official responsibility. Just as the 5 fold ministry have spiritual but no official responsibility regarding the church, so the elders, the whole local church: the collection of cell groups, have spiritual but no official responsibility regarding the Work: 5 fold. Thus the churches: cell groups are local, intensely local; the Work: 5 fold is extra local, and always extra-local.


The business of the local churches: cell groups consists in the mutual care of their various members, such as the conduct of meetings for the Covenant/ breaking of bread, for Prayer, for Worship, for the spreading the Good News, for the study of the Word and for the exercise of the gifts; both paraclete and internship 5 fold, and that is the reason for preparation of these handbooks, so as to help the local church: cell group get under way in the manner of which they are going to be proceeding.


The work: 5 fold is beyond the sphere of any local church: cell group and consists of a Communal Body of Christ, and is made up of individual ministries intensely concerned with and connected with the mutual Body of Christ. When God wants any representatives of the Body to express its ministry, He gives `gifts to men' - the 5 fold ministries, who are functioning members of the local church: cell group, to represent the Body of Christ.


one body and one Spirit, according as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;

one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in you all,

and to each one of you was given the grace, according to the measure of the gift of Christ,

wherefore, he saith, `Having gone up on high he led captive captivity, and gave gifts to men,' --

and that, he went up, what is it except that he also went down first to the lower parts of the earth?

he who went down is the same also who went up far above all the heavens, that He may fill all things--

and He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as proclaimers of good news, and

some as shepherds and teachers,

The whole idea is quite clear in 1 Corinthians 12.

And concerning the spiritual things, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant;

ye have known that ye were nations, unto the dumb idols--as ye were led--being carried away;

wherefore, I give you to understand that no one, in the Spirit of God speaking, saith Jesus is anathema,

and no one is able to say Jesus is Lord, except in the Holy Spirit.

And there are diversities of gifts, and the same Spirit;

and there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord;

and there are diversities of workings, and it is the same God--who is working the all in all.

And to each hath been given the manifestation of the Spirit for profit;

for to one through the Spirit hath been given a word of wisdom, and to another a word of knowledge,

according to the same Spirit;

and to another faith in the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healings in the same Spirit;

and to another in-workings of mighty deeds; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of

spirits; and to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues:

and all these doth work the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each severally as he intendeth.

For, even as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the one body, being

many, are one body, so also is the Christ,

for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or

freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink,

for also the body is not one member, but many;

if the foot may say, `Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of the

body;

and if the ear may say, `Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of

the body?

If the whole body were an eye, where the hearing? if the whole hearing, where the smelling?

and now, God did set the members each one of them in the body, according as He willed,

and if all were one member, where the body?

and now, indeed, are many members, and one body;

and an eye is not able to say to the hand, `I have no need of thee;' nor again the head to the feet, `I

have no need of you.'

But much more the members of the body which seem to be more infirm are necessary,

and those that we think to be less honourable of the body, around these we put more abundant honour,

and our unseemly things have seemliness more abundant,

and our seemly things have no need; but God did temper the body together, to the lacking part having

given more abundant honour,

that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same anxiety for one

another,

and whether one member doth suffer, suffer with it do all the members, or one member is glorified,

rejoice with it do all the members;

and ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

And some, indeed, did God set in the assembly, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers,

afterwards powers, afterwards gifts of healings, helpings, governings, divers kinds of tongues;

are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all powers?

have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

and desire earnestly the better gifts; and yet a far excelling way do I shew to you:

So the Work: 5 fold is the responsibility of individuals who are called and commissioned by God, and who has what gift can clearly be established in terms of the Amended Hout’s and Amended Morris Sheats and other questionnaires -[these are available on request from the author of these handbooks, and are also dealt with in flow at the beginning of this series]- and are not the responsibility of the whole local church or collection of cell groups.


At the end of Acts chapter 28:30, 31 we read

`For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the Kingdom of God and taught about the lord Jesus Christ.'


There is no record of Paul taking control of the local church: cell group, nor did they make their place of meeting to be Paul’s center of Work: 5 fold.


Thus we see that every 5 fold minister must learn to live in `his own [hired] dwelling and work from there as his center, leaving the responsibility of the local church: cell group to the local brethren, but he could minister in the local church: cell group as the occasion warranted it and on request from the local church: cell group.


And on these occasions the following scriptures could apply: -

And let him who is instructed in the word share with him who is instructing--in all good things.

for the Writing saith, `An ox treading out thou salt not muzzle,' and `Worthy is the workman of his reward.'

or following your trade and doing ministry as well;

and having found a certain Jew, by name Aquilas, of Pontus by birth, lately come from Italy, and Priscilla his wife—

because of Claudius having directed all the Jews to depart out of Rome--he came to them,

and because of being of the same craft, he did remain with them, and was working, for they were tent-makers as to craft;

Thus the Work: 5 fold belongs to the workers, but the local church: cell groups belong to the locality of believers in that area. ---

Any Work: 5 fold in a given place are only temporary, but the local church: cell group in a given place is permanent, being geographically based. The Work: 5 fold is movable: the church: cell group is stationary. When the Worker: 5 fold moves his work moves with him. Whether the Worker: 5 fold and his work are present or absent, the church: cell groups should move steadily forward with the ministry input they have received. The Work: 5 fold and the work of the local church: cell group run on a shared basis; but they do not converge.


Whether he stays or leaves a place the Worker: 5 fold should hand over all the fruit of his Work: 5 fold in that area, to the local church: cell group in that area. Work: 5 fold is work, and the church: cell group is church, and these two lines never interlock, but keep running on a shared basis one to the other interlinking as the occasion warrants it.


We need to show the new converts that such duties as reading the Bible, praying, witnessing, assembling together and giving, are the minimum requirements of Christians. We need to explain to them -

`You must look out for suitable premises and conduct your meetings. Your meetings are your responsibility, and the regular assembling of yourselves is one of your chief duties and privileges;'


The term Wworkers used below conveys the idea that the 5 fold ministry workers are different in emphasis to the workers in the local church : cell groups.


As for the Wworkers: 5 fold, they must keep their Work: 5 fold distinct from the activities of the local church: cell groups, but must go and have fellowship with the believers in their various local gatherings: cell groups.


Except for the initial basis of -

being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being chief corner- stone ,

in whom all the building fitly framed together doth increase to an holy sanctuary in the Lord,

in whom also ye are builded together, for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:20 – 22 [1898 Young’s Literal Translation]


Here it is essential to understand the above scripture in terms of the very clear definitions of the apostle and prophet; as well the definitions of the pastor, evangelist and teacher given in the handbooks.


After that the Wworker: 5 fold must leave the believers to initiate and conduct their own meetings in their own place, and then he must go to them and take part in their meetings, as a believer only, not to ask them to come to him and to take part in his meetings, except where the local church: cell group has a specific request to a member of the 5 fold company of ministers to come and minister to them.


Believers must pray themselves, study the Word themselves and assemble themselves as suggested in these handbooks, not go to a meeting prepared by others and sit down and listen to others preach; except in working with the apostle and the prophet to establish local churches: cell groups everywhere.


The only other difference is where the believer as a group is attending a celebration service [celebrating the greatness of God] - a corporate assembly to worship God in His Greatness.


The Wworker: 5 fold have the responsibility only of grounding the believers in the spiritual sacrifices, and their Melchizedekal priestly duties, which is to do the work of the ministry as shown to them by the 5 fold Ministry. [that is covered in detail in these 5 meeting handbooks] [Jesus being the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek]


and ye yourselves, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices

acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

and ye are a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light;

Thus every single believer is a priest in the order of Melchizedek.


Then the Wworker is to start preparing to move on, to found another local church: cell group.


A Worker: 5 fold should go and work in a certain place if the local church: cell group invites him, or if he himself has received a revelation from the Lord to work there, however this can only be done with the agreement of the local church: cell group. If a Worker: 5 fold expects to stay for any length of time in one place, then he must have his own centre of Work: 5 fold, and he must not only bear his own personal responsibilities, but all responsibilities in connection with the Work: 5 fold in collaboration with the Corporate 5 fold Work.


It must be borne in mind that the Worker: 5 fold has no temporal authority in the local church: cell group. The local church: cell group is the sole authority for that area, even though the Worker: 5 fold may have founded the local church: cell group.


--- `The sole aim of all Work: 5 fold for God is the increase and up-building of the local churches: cell groups, for the purpose of setting up the overall Body of Christ' ---


Thus all God's servants are engaged in the ministry of building up the Body of Christ, but not all ministries are the same. Everybody has his or her own line of ministry, whether it is a facet of a broad-spectrum ministry, or the Holy Spirit is starting a new line of Work: 5 fold.


OUR WORK: 5 FOLD IS FOR OUR MINISTRY AND OUR MINISTRY IS FOR THE LOCAL CHURCHES: CELL GROUPS.


No church: cell group should be under a specific ministry, except to interlink to begin to raise up intern 5 fold trainee ministers who are linked to the Corporate 5 fold Work, but all ministries should be connected to local church: cell groups communally.


Until the Lord comes again, He will raise up new ministries in the Word. He will open up special truths to meet the specific needs of His children. But these must be accepted or rejected by the local church: cell group, with them being answerable to the Lord. The Worker: 5 fold cannot start a denomination or sect to maintain the truth he has been given.


Should God entrust us with a special ministry and lead us to a place where no church: cell group exists, our first duty is to establish one in the locality, then contribute our ministry to it. We can establish local churches: cell groups and contribute our ministry to such churches, but we dare not establish ministerial churches. His plan is that His servants SHOULD JUST ESTABLISH a local church: cell group, and then contribute their ministries to that local church: cell group.


The local church: cell is not controlled by one ministry, but served by all ministries. The fruit of all Wwork: 5 fold must go into the local church.


The boundary of a corporate church is a geographical area, not any institution e.g. mission, hospital, and social work in a city. Even though there may be regular prayers, and preaching, and a variety of meetings in connection with a Christian institution, these can never serve as a substitute for church fellowship/cell groups/ local churches, and no such institution however spiritual, can be regarded as a church, since it not founded on the divinely appointed basis of locality: cell group: fellowship.


To summarize: -

* The Work: 5 fold and other works: 5 fold are the special concern of the Wworkers: 5 fold, not of the churches: cell groups, and the sphere of any work is not wide enough for it to be regarded as a church.

* All Wworkers: 5 fold must be humble enough to take the place of brothers in the local church: cell groups. In the sphere of their work they hold the position of God's servants, but in the sphere of the church they are only brethren.
