Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is part of it.

1 Corinthians 12:27

........ until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:13 prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

Ephesians 4:12

Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on, and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:7

In any place where the Good News of the Kingdom of God has been told, and people have believed on the Lord, they then become the `ecclesia' - `the called out ones. How do they know who they are?

`You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.'

Romans 8:9-11.

`Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all in all.'

Ephesians 4:3-6.

We must realize that God has incorporated all His children into one Body. He recognizes no division of His people in various "churches" and missions. He has designed that all who are His shall live a corporate life, the life of a body amongst whose many members there is mutual consideration, mutual helpfulness, mutual edification, and mutual service - the activities of many members of one body.

The Church of God includes a vast number of believers, living at different times, and scattered in different places throughout the earth. As it is impossible for all the people of God, scattered throughout the world to live and meet in one place; so it therefore follows, as night follows day that the body has to assemble in different geographical locations.

It is also eminently sensible for believers to meet together from the same geographical location, eminently practical. When we look into the scriptures we find that the churches never ever have any other name except by geographical placement. The assemblies/cell groups and celebration services [gatherings] of His people are only ever described as `The Church at....., The Church of ....., The Church in..... '.

The single other reference to another name `The Church of the Firstborn' [Hebrews 12:23] refers to the universal Church, viz. `of' not `at', and also in context is in the heavenly Jerusalem.............

`But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven...'

[Hebrews 12:22.]

God in His wisdom knew that to have a portion of the Church body named on a theological or other basis would result in a self-defensive position, with the inevitable slide into becoming a denomination or sect, sooner or later.

The other aspect is that believers get scattered all over the place, purely on the basis of their individual or group doctrines, whereas a geographical name includes ALL believers in that area, and all the aspects of the Church body can be expressed most efficiently - on Church ground; where believers are gathered together.

A geographical name is completely neutral, and leaves all believers free to get on with the only business there is, namely, the building up of Christ's body, the Church.

`It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

Ephesians 4:11, 12.

If a locality is indivisible for various reasons, then the portion of the Church Body in that area is indivisible. Each individual locality must have individual believers meeting on Church ground; where believers gather together.

The boundary of a local assembly/cell group is the unit of the church in God's word, each bearing responsibility directly towards Christ, and not to any other organization.

"All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.

You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country."

Deuteronomy 28:2, 3
