Digital Marketing Tips: Three Content Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

Content marketing is one of the most effective ways to generate more traffic to your website and increase the exposure of your business online. How effective is it? When you consider that Google regularly tweaks its search algorithms to ensure Google search engines consistently provide high-quality content to users, you can tell that content marketing is important.

Digital Marketing Tips: Three Content Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

Note, however, that simply having a content marketing campaign isn’t enough to enjoy its benefits. When done perfunctory, it can hurt your business.

As they say, “knowing is half the battle.” Being aware of content marketing mistakes helps you to avoid making them, allowing you to create more useful marketing content. With that in mind, here are a few common content marketing mistakes that digital marketing experts want you to avoid:

Sporadic Blog Posts

For content marketing to flourish, you need to post regularly. Making this help your blog maintain and build off its momentum. As a reader, it can be frustrating to check a blog for new entries for three weeks straight and not find anything new to read; in fact, it can be frustrating enough to make a reader feel like regularly checking your blog isn’t worth it. Create a content schedule and stick to it religiously.

Grammatical Errors Go Unchecked

Google and readers want quality content, and blog posts that contain grammatical errors never count as quality work. Although Google has yet to make grammatical errors an actual ranking factor, you can be sure that readers will spot a grammatical error or typo quickly. If this happens too often, users may begin to question the quality of your business. After all, if you can’t be bothered to proofread your work, how can they trust you to care about their satisfaction?

Content Focuses on Selling

The goal of content marketing isn’t to sell your products and services, even if better leads and sales are its byproducts. Content marketing is all about providing useful information to your clients about the goods and services you offer. Articles that push a product too hard may turn off many readers, like how most TV commercials are just ignored or skipped nowadays.

Unsure if you can keep up with the demands of content marketing and the expectations of web users? If so, you can always work alongside respected digital marketing agencies in Minneapolis like EVM Digital. Professional digital marketers can help take the load off your shoulders and run a successful content marketing campaign from behind the scenes, freeing you up to do what you do best: running your business.

Hi Edwin
I hate Grammatical Errors too.
I try to fix them all before I publish for exactly the reason you stated - Professionalism.
Also I am way over selling, sales pitch, hard sell etc.
