Short answer: posts like this one. Longer answer: because beBee has stood the test of time, for me, and given that other platforms (even those that brand themselves as “professional” ones) have only gotten worse, it seems that beBee deserves a chance, even if it's still fringe and doesn't grant us the interactivity we hope for. At the end of the day, I'm here for the same reason I'm on Flote: because it stands for something and I want to support its cause, even if there are people here I disagree with, even if I don't get any sales (or perhaps even additional views to my blog site), even if… I'd rather support places like beBee and have only a few subscribers than having 1000s of fake contacts on those other platforms that care just for their bottom line. Cheers

I'm on beBee because I am a writer, and I like the blogging format as a means of expression and communication. I write all of my longer format posts on beBee, because it's easy to send them from here to Facebook, LI and Twitter. But more than that, I like to read a lot of the people who like to read me. So in that weird social media way, we're friends. I don't write and post here to build my personal brand or any of that crap. I think most of that stuff is bullshit unless you have a gizmo to sell. I build my business through referrals and contact I initiate, mostly through networking and emails. I write here to share insights and my communications experience as a professional writer. And I like beBee ecause there are way fewer idiots and trolls here, unlike LinkedIn where they are wall-to-wall. People on beBee genuinely like being here and so do I.

The reason social media exists is because social media sites need this media to be social. We know ex-Facebook execs have voiced recriminations that they knew social media was socially engineered to create an addictive response. From what you have written I consider both you and myself as "outliers" in this social media system. With the rise of artificial intelligence, AI systems and social engineering do not care for us outliers - for AI predictions are made to spot major trends and predict social conformity. I engage on bebee as an individual learner and thinker. I view bebee as "Learning Media". I have 15 groups on LinkedIn where I am the only member and I am not engaging a monologue, I am simply curating excellent content that has passed through the biological machinery of my attention, rather than the mechanical machinery of social media. I don't want people to join those 15 LinkedIn groups because my learning path is unique to me and more importantly - content is abundant. The world is not short of content, it is short of the individual being. Those 15 groups is like having 15 different Private Twitter accounts. Social engineering creates a group norm but I love sitting on the edge, as a perpetual outside looking upon all of this as an outsider. For sure I am noted as an insider at beBee due to my prolific presence - but my thinking is not meatspace - it is cyberspace as we are in our own neural pathways inside the brain - and as Shakespeare said, "there is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so". The difference between me being on beBee and me being on LinkedIn is that LinkedIn operates on the premise of "Closed Groups" - so naturally I take advantage of that - but beBee has Hives which are relatively open - though I can't post buzzes to my hives (which is why I have opened those 15 groups at LinkedIn). I posted this to the Gray CityVP Hive - because this GRAY learning is for me - as my "Learning Media".

We have fun here interacting with a few folks. I've a feeling I would be friends with them if we met in a person. I fully agree with Gerald Hecht. by the way.... VIP flag is an automatic one for active bees... we do nothing manually. a hug from Madrid

My experience on beBee has been "hit and miss," "hot and cold." At times, I have engaged, read, posted and felt connected. At other times, family, work, and the real world in general have kept me away. I write a travel blog, which I enjoy. I cannot say that beBee has helped me progress or grow my blog. I do enjoy the interactions, though. I keep coming back to beBee for well thought out and written posts, overall pleasant and genial people, and the diversity of humanity here. Thanks for asking.

Gerald, I also have a feeling I would be friends with a few Bees I interact the most if we met in a person, including you. :) That high level of engagement keeps me here and makes beBee my favourite social network.

Eeva, what I learned in more than two and a half years on beBee is about the importance of reciprocity. Social media is actually about engagement, i.e., about reading, liking, sharing and commenting. Many times I engaged with posts when authors even didn't respond to comments on their posts. Personally, I find it difficult to understand. There are authors who are not inclined to engage or reciprocate, for whatever reason, but it reflects on the engagement with their blogs.

Thank you Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee for sharing Why beBee. My most important reason to be on beBee is I've built friendships that can last a lifetime and also lessons that teach me to face the tides in life that will last a life time. My time on beBee is as I always say blissful. The buzz is growing louder 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Great buzz! Thanks for share Javier.
Another good reason..beBee is growing on a steady basis and LinkedIn is loosing ground for too many reasons they can fix. LINKEDIN isnt not a core social media tool it is a recruiters tool that want it all but cannot. Only my opinion.

I really like this theme of testimonials, Javier. Having bees explain "why beBee?" is an effective means of leveraging social proof. Nice buzz, as always!
