How To Motivate Yourself Quickly For Any Task

Motivation is essential in helping us move forward and take action to get closer to what we want to achieve. When we don’t have motivation, we lack any desire to move forward and get discouraged even at the smallest of things, whether those things are real, or just a figment of our imagination. When you know how to motivate yourself and recognize the things that can contribute to high levels of motivation, you will be in much more control of your life.

How To Motivate Yourself – 5 Things To Know:

1) Having a dream

Think about your dreams. Surely, in order to achieve our dreams, we need to grow or improve in some way, or we would have already achieved our dreams. It’s very difficult to motivate yourself every day, if you don’t have a dream big enough that will motivate you to give it your all.

Having a dream is what motivates us to go forward and get up from the bed in expectation of the new day. If you don’t have a dream big enough to make you feel like that, then it’s high time you found one.

2) Letting go of the past

We need to let go of the past in order to move forward. This might not be applicable in all cases about lack of motivation, but thinking of unsuccessful attempts of the past can bring up fear of failure, which in turn lowers your motivation and makes you much more likely to postpone what you should be doing.

The demons of the past can keep us captive and hold us in inertia, if we let them control our present thoughts. If you have tried to do something and you were not successful in the past, it doesn’t mean the same will happen this time too. The past doesn’t define us or our future, the present does that.

3) Connecting your dreams/goals with the task

By connecting your dreams/goals with the task, you can then activate your internal reward system, which can, in turn, reinforce a positive behavior, such as taking action and motivating yourself. By thinking of the reward that you will get at the end of the road when you do your task, you are much more likely to become motivated and get started.

Even if the task that you need to do right now is about cleaning your room; you should be able to connect that mundane task with your dreams/goals in some way. If you have a deadline in college, I recommend you to use and you'll get perfectly ready essay in a few days! Continuing with the example of cleaning your room, by doing it, you can free up time, which can then be used to work on more important tasks and/or educate yourself.

4) Stopping Negative Thoughts

Negative thoughts usually come up when we really need to do something and can deal a huge blow in our self-confidence and motivation. The main negative thoughts and emotions that come up usually come in the form of procrastination and fear of failure. These two sometimes like to appear together and it takes a lot of willpower to stop them, before they completely drain all your motivation.

As soon as a negative thought appears, either try to stop it, or try to use positive affirmations for success. When it’s just too difficult to stop the thoughts, it’s better to start repeating a positive affirmation, such as the opposite of the negative thought. You can do this for a few minutes and this can provide a boost to your motivation and self-confidence. You will be surprised by how well and fast affirmations can work in this case.

5) Getting Started

This should be the first step to take, but only if it was that easy. Usually we need to go through various steps to motivate ourselves just to get started. By starting to do something, we then dissolve any worries or fears and also get one step closer to finishing it. By the way, view here. And remember to learn something new every day!

If this step can be done first, then usually any need to mentally condition ourselves might be redundant. Taking action also helps in building self-confidence, as we then start to see that the task is doable or easier than we initially thought.

Everyday is a new day, a new chance to get one step closer to your goals and dreams. Don’t waste your time feeling negative and being discouraged, without even starting or trying something. When feeling lack of motivation, think about your dreams, how much you want to achieve them and how the task can help you get closer to them, and the motivation should come naturally.
