BeBee 'Honeycomb' feed for posts with high engagement

BeBee 'Honeycomb' feed for posts with high engagement

2 ideas inspired by Ali Anani's post here - firstly, this Hive as a way to communicate ideas for new features or make requests for improvements.

The second is an idea for a new 'feed' called Honeycomb, which pulls the highest engaged posts from all Hives you are part of (so each day, the top posts from each Hive appear in your personal Honeycomb feed). You also have a button/option to view the top engaged posts from all Hives on beBee so you can curate your favourites from the main Hive.

There would need to be an algorithm which selects which Honey posts appear in the Honeycomb, one suggestion would be that it is based on number of comments, not views/relevance. This algorithm would not count author replies to comments (they would still be pulled into and seen in the feed) - this would discourage authors from 'bloating' comments just to get in the Honeycomb feed.

This should be easy/quick to test, implement and get user feedback on - over time more advanced algorithms could be used to filter results but each improvement of the algorithm should be publicly tested and checked with users to ensure it is fair and useful (otherwise people will be put off BeBee, like over on LinkedIn!).

This is just an idea, please share and leave comments that could help make the idea more useful to all Bees!

#26 Great!!! Many thanks @Ewan Muirhead. We have planned a trend zone, but this in every hive would be fine. Thanks for the feedback. Any ideas you can throw us. Best regards.

I am honored to have a buzz of mine on the spotlight with such clarity. I thank you deeply @Ewan Muirhead and I am truly honored. If I may help in any way in making beBee a better platform then it serves all of us. This is a grand purpose.
I may suggest here also the buzzes on comments or buzzes should be valued as an ingredient of the selection formula. This buzz is an example of what I mean as it is inspired by another buzz. A buzz that have many discussions and leads to the writing of more buzzes is certainly worthy of going into the "BeBee Honeycomb Feed".
Again, I am delighted to read this buzz.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Right now, @John White, MBA tweets the most popular posts through the @beBee Twitter account. If people want, I could have myTweetPack Build the HoneyComb feed from those tweets.

Until beBee has its own API building directly as you suggest would be nearly impossible. Even then, it would be a beast to provision.

Ewan, you've convinced me. I'll add the HoneyComb Feed idea to the Dev schedule. Do you mind if I use that name? I think I need more servers. Hmmmmmm
