Be Super Proud of all your Accomplishments But Remember to be Accountable for your Failures!

People don't buy what you do, people buy why you do what you do - Simon Sinek

This is one of my favorite quote. This post goes out to all job seekers and aspiring entrepreneurs all over the world.

3dcbf5f5.jpg

Over the last few years I have witnessed the truth behind the quote - People don't buy what you do, people buy why you do what you do

People never hire you or work with you just for your qualifications or titles but they hire you because you show them why you did what you did.

I show the people I work with why I believe in helping people to be better at what they do. I show them why I coach people to excel, why I hire  a particular candidate and how I inspire change. My job is always aligned with why I do what I do, my purpose in life. Looking back on the journey I've been on, I realize this.

Purpose according to Wikipedia is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. A person's sense of resolve or determination. Have as one's intention or objective. It goes on to say why you do something or why something exists. Why does one exist?

Our values form the base foundation for our purpose, the value we bring exercises our purpose.

For our values help us grow, learn and achieve success. When it is purpose driven, we add value to those we meet who are part of the journey we are on.

For we do not grow alone we use the immediate surrounding and the people around us to grow and shine. And when we shine we shed light enabling others to see a well defined path - Fatima Williams

During you job search/entrepreneurial journey one thing you must remember is to be super proud of all your accomplishments and to be accountable for your failures. There is great lesson to learn from both!

Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is YOU who will get you where you want to go, no one else.” ― Les Brown

Remember it takes 365 days to make a year. You will need to take one step at a time, one thought at a time, one idea at a time and one action at a time.

Believe in yourself!  Say and do the things you actually believe.

"If you say what you believe and do what you believe, you will attract people who believe what you believe  and you can form a trust with them" - Simon Sinek

  • Turn your job search difficulties & entrepreneurial challenges into subjects of exploration.
  • Add elements of your passion to a given opportunity or the situation you're in.
  • Input ideas that exhibit your purpose-driven passion in the job you already have.
  • Find satisfaction and love in the job assigned by looking at the bigger picture.
  • Use them as step-stones to get to where you want. Ultimately you will get to where you want to go.
  • Bring clarity to what you want to accomplish by letting go of the fear.
  • Measure what you do and learn from what you've implemented. This would keep you better organised
  • Portray your authenticity and draw people forward with your actions and words
  • Most important of all - " Believe in yourself".

Purpose differs from man to man and time to time and the situation you're in. What matters is how well we are able to utilize our existence at any given moment in life. That defines our Purpose.

Rather than asking yourself what is my Purpose in life. Ask the question Why do you do what you want to do, that will define your purpose at any given moment. This will help you in any journey in life.

Sara Jacobovici says "Our beliefs and values give reason and intention to purpose. We can have purpose, but only through choice do we activate purpose".

You have the choice to make your life better and to decide which journey gives you fulfillment and satisfaction. Choose wisely and believe in yourself.

Have the courage to make the right choices to get to your purpose driven job or business path.

"For we do not grow alone, we use the immediate surrounding and the people around us to grow and shine." Strong words and so very true . Without others we would fade into darkness and the same goes for ourselves, reaching out to others when they are in need or just sharing fun/laughter together. We watched a NY show last night with a lot of comedy, I laughed so hard and it felt SO good. Laughter is so healing.

Thank you Geoff Hudson-Searle for adding you thoughts. It is the willingness to accept accountability which is a challenge. A battle each leader/person face everyday. Once we acknowledge the fear of being accountable to ourself everything will fall in place. Here's to a happy happy 2018 wishing you all the happiness you deserve.

Great article One of the most important concepts I ever understood early in my career is the willingness for leaders to accept accountability. Too many times the concept of accountability is a very one-sided mindset. Leaders must hold their people accountable, that’s for sure, but it goes far beyond that. In order for any organisation to have full trust, engagement, and synergy, each leader themselves must be open to being held to account for their actions and attitudes.

Accounting whether it is accountability or an accountant makes me think of what said in comment #12 about your buzz closing the year out. In the world of business, the existence of a fiscal year is separate from a regular year because not all fiscal years run from January to December. Why is it that in business we can choose to start our fiscal year say in October, but in life we follow the social protocol about when we close the book on the year. The Chinese new year has proponents who like to start it in the Spring. So I am thinking of postponing my New Year by 3 months :-) Maybe i look at this time of the year as George looks at the Story of Festivus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX55AzGku5Y but happy new Year to the bees here and what better page to say that than here because if there is one person here at beBee who has shown amazing growth year on year and in so many ways, it is you Fatima. I don't know what I am counting, hopefully it is as always at all times of the year and not just at the end, my blessings :-)
