Don’t listen to others, believe in your own capabilities. You can if you think you can. Only a loser quits. What are You ????

Don’t listen to others, believe in your own capabilities. You can if you think you can. Only a loser quits. What are You ????

Winning means you're willing to go
longer, work harder, and give more
than anyone else - Vince Lombardi

Yes, you heard me right!

I ask you a question and the answer depends on YOU.

Are you a winner?

Do you believe in your capabilities?

Do you think you can achieve fulfillment in what you do?

Do you think you live a purpose-driven rewarding life?

I remember a story my manager told me about Hot Dogs.

There was a man who lived by the side of the road and sold Hot Dogs. He was hard of hearing so he had no radio. He had trouble with his eyes so he read no newspapers and of course, he didn’t watch television.

But he sold great Hot Dogs!!!

He put up a sign on the highway telling everyone how great they were. He stood at the side of the road & cried “Buy a Hot Dog, Mister”.

And people bought! He increased his meat and bun orders to keep up with business. He bought a larger stove to take care of his trade. He finally got his son home from school to help him out!

But then something happened …..

His son said, “Father, haven’t you been listening to the radio or reading the newspapers or watching television?”

There is a BIG depression. The economic situation is terrible. The situation in the Middle East is out of control. At home, we have problems with inflation, riots, pollution, strikes, minorities, majorities, the rich, the poor, drugs, and terrorists! Whereupon the Father thought “Well my son has been to college, he reads the newspapers and listens to the television, he ought to know!”

So his Father cut down on his meat and bun orders, took down his advertising signs, and no longer bothered to stand on the road to sell his Hot Dogs.

And his Hot Dog sales fell almost overnight.

“You’re right son,” the father said to the boy, “we certainly are in the middle of Great Depression”

He thought he was doing good until he believed in what he was doing. The minute he placed his belief in something that had no direct effect on him as an individual he started to fail.

Failures are man-made just like most natural calamities. We think we are not capable of a particular task without even taking an attempt at trying it out.

Don't you taste a couple of soups before you choose your favorite?

Jobs are like that. IMHO We are not born to sit and do just one particular task after passing out of high school or college. I know we were trained to do so but "Are you ready to untrain yourself and learn?

Point is unless you show people how good you are, they won't know.

You also need to unlearn the fact that you were born to be just an employee. Try your hand out at being a leader, an entrepreneur, a coach, a trainer etc.

    • Be Proactive with a strong sense of empowerment and determination.
    • Take the initiative to leverage every opportunity your way.
    • Don't wait for things to turn in your favor and play "victim".
    • Continuously build strong mutually rewarding relationships.
    • Practice life-balance and be ready to learn everyday!

A winner doesn't mean your rich or have hundreds of people following you. A winner is one who is ready to learn, believes in their own capabilities.

A winner lives a purpose-driven rewarding life for themselves and the society they live in.

“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is Learning. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, learn from your failures and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.” - Wilma Rudolph (Quote Edited)

Wishing you the very best in your journey of being a learner!

Would love to hear your thoughts?

I'm adding a message from one of my readers. It is for moments like these we write, share and reach out!

Thank you for reaching out to me. I would love to connect with you here. Your post on Thursday gave me life, literally. I have been job hunting for almost two years now as a result of corporate layoffs. On Tuesday, I reached out to a senior leader at my former company, who told me that I had been unemployed two long in order to keep applying for director level jobs, which is the previous position I held. She said I need to downgrade my job search because the market was too competitive and because I had not worked in two years, my competency at that level is now in question. I was crushed!!! I have been an attorney for 23 years and held multiple roles, and she simply discounted all of that and told me to aim lowerr Sadly, I accepted her advice without question and prepared to lower my aim. Then I saw your post about the man selling hotdogs. It was the kick in the butt I needed that I needed to believe in myself, and not base on my thoughts of success on someone else's opinion, on something that has nothing to do with me. Thank you for the reminder. I really needed it. Keep on posting and encouraging people.

Fatima, this is a rousing call to every person I know that finds adversity in the continual drubbing we take from media sources that seldom, if ever cite the positive aspects of life, today. I've passed this long to a number of youngsters in my network to help them and their colleagues.

Fabulous buzz ...This reminds me of a wonderful story I read about a pizza shop owner who began offering a free slice of pizza to the neighborhood homeless every Thursday. His patrons were so moved by the shop owner’s generosity and the gratitude displayed by these very hungry people, that they began donating money to the cause. Now, the shop owner can afford to offer more meals to more people several days a week. That is what I call,” awesomeness in action!” People helping people, one slice at a time. When we share our good fortune in service to humankind, we help ourselves evolve personally and professionally as the self-less act never goes unrewarded...The trick is not to have expectations of a certain outcome, or you will find yourself disappointed every time...Be of good nature and always be willing to lend a hand to someone less fortunate...Now this pizza shop owner has a booming business and can afford himself some time off for a little pleasure once in a while;-)

#18 Thank you, Savvy and Joyce. Self-belief is indeed the first step in learning to waltz with life and living. That makes all the difference. You deserve the world don't let anyone stop you:)
What terrific encouragement. I, too, suffer that loss in my resume, but I know my worth and never stop trying.

Thank you, Ian Weinberg Yes, Being accountable to our thoughts, actions, and the outcomes as a result of our actions are very crucial. Asking ourselves where we stand and what we believe we can do. As Gert summarised it starts with believing in ourselves. It is the starting point for having others believe in us and reaching our full potential :) I have learned so much from interacting with everyone here, the journey is still young and I have miles to go before I sleep.

Such enthusiasm, zest and spark, Fatima. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the Dubai Duchess. You had me at “you”, “you”, “you”, “you” and then “”you”. 🤗
