Be a student of history. Value the lessons. Don’t erase the past.

Be a student of history. Value the lessons. Don’t erase the past.

"If you could erase all the mistakes of your past, you would also erase all the wisdom of your present. Remember the lesson, not the disappointment.”

My first response to the wisdom in this quote has to do with history and recent events … such as the removal of national monuments in America. This shout out to the misguided, wrong-thinking folks inciting removal:

“Removing a historic statue does NOT remove the reality of the past … the truth of history.”

Only wrong-thinking, often deluded people think that moving the hands on the face of a clock changes the time. (Deluded means believing something is not true / not believing truth)

Also this book came to mind: The Giver by Lois Lowry

There are rich lessons to be found in this children’s book (not just for children) about a man-created utopia.

The “Elders” in this “perfect” society did not think the citizens should experience “pain” or make “wrong” choices so history was hidden from them (held by the Giver)

Also the community was schooled in “sameness” (to drive home THEIR concept of “equality”)

A couple things that stayed vividly in my mind after reading this book:

… One is that “sameness” is the same mindset of political correctness.

…The other is that God was left out of their “perfect world”

Submitting to censorship is to enter the seductive world of The Giver: the world where there are no bad words and no bad deeds. But it is also the world where choice has been taken away and reality distorted. And that is the most dangerous world of all.” —Lois Lowry

This principle is as sure as gravity:

Right-thinking produces right actions & good outcomes

Wrong-thinking produces wrong actions & bad outcomes

@JerryFletcher Jerry~ Thank you for commenting & mentioning the book: Think Wrong (I'll add it to my reading list) Again: In The Giver by Lois Lowry: the Utopian community was schooled in “sameness” (to drive home THEIR concept of “equality”) … My vivid takeaway from the book: “sameness” is the same mindset of political correctness ( a confirmation of wrong-thinking and sure path to miss the benefits of being different)

@AliAnani This principle is as sure as gravity: Right-thinking produces right actions & good outcomes Wrong-thinking produces wrong actions & bad outcomes How insight-fully true Ali “dark hearts shall refute these basic principles” … “Dark hearts are “darkened in their understanding” Darkness hates truth (“dark hearts” prefer delusion) The battle between darkness and light is an ancient war. In John 3:19-21 … very powerful “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men love darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But who ever lives by the truth comes into the light… That is why those with “dark” hearts … those who reside in darkness … love darkness “they will eat the fruit of their ways” ~ Proverbs 1:31 Vs … “the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness & truth” (Ephesians 5) “By their fruits … you will know them” (whether they walk in darkness or have come into the Light)

Just as those who ignore history are likely to repeat it, which is not necessarily a bad thing since history isn't all negative outcomes. You can have a history of making good decisions, or one of making bad decicisions. Those who don't learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat them again and again.

Fay, The last book I purchased was titled Think Wrong and like the Lowry book makes the point that sameness is antithetical to success (in the case of business in this book). The lessons learned by living, by experiencing all the available emotions, of winning and losing are essential. it is lnoly when we fail to learn that we abandon our humanity. And so it goes.

Very eloquent buzz, Fay. It is profound and is full of meanings. You wrote "his principle is as sure as gravity: Right-thinking produces right actions & good outcomes Wrong-thinking produces wrong actions & bad outcomes" Unfortunately, dark hearts shall refute these basic principles.
