Closed-eyes & Hard-hearts

Closed-eyes & Hard-hearts

“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to
believe what is not true; the other is to

refuse to believe what is true.” -Soren
LEER]

How often do you stop to consider that the condition of your heart affects your ability to see & understand? This is heart-attitude.

Heart-attitude is a matter of perspective and will.

What is inherent in human nature that makes people unable to see?

I mean to perceive. To understand. Which is deeper. This is discernment.

What limits our ability to perceive & to understand which in turn contributes to the distortion of reality & truth?

A simple truth:

As much as time changes things, this one thing does not change: people see what they want to see … hear what they want to hear … and believe what they want to believe. Truth is NOT the Standard.

Here is why:

“Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him.” Ephesians 4

“Closed eyes”

A person has eyes ... but chooses not to see.

This is “willful ignorance.”

This is “chosen blindness.”

"Willful ignorance proves that fools exist." fem-v

“Willful ignorance is the state of being ignorant about something out of choice.” ~ Zacharias Voulgaris

Closed eyes produce closed-minds. Both are the enemy of understanding.

Closed eyes & closed-minds impede personal & spiritual growth. Limit learning, comprehension & understanding. Veil: imagination, curiosity & creativity & ideas.

"We close off our minds at our own peril." ~ Harvey Lloyd

“Hard hearts”

A hard-heart is the enemy of your soul. This heart condition: blinds your eyes, dulls your spirit & robs your capacity for Love, Life & Learning

It is written:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well-spring of life” ~ Proverbs 4

Your words flow out of your heart before they fill your mind. Perspective & attitude are shaped in & by your heart.

“From the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks” ~ Luke 6

“The condition of your heart is probably one of the greatest secrets to optimize personal capacity.

Who you are … what you become … your destiny resides in your heart. ~ fay vietmeier

People with closed-eyes & hard-hearts have always been present. In every generation since the beginning of mankind.

However, those with “closed-eyes” & “hard-hearts” seem to be growing in a “corona-like” way.

A simple truth:

… Physical problems require physical cures …

… Spiritual problems require spiritual cures …

Willful ignorance, chosen blindness and hard-heart are spiritual problems. Spiritual conditions.

The cure is spiritual.

Sadly: for those suffering from willful ignorance, closed-eyes and hard-hearts ... the cure will not be sought. For there is not a recognition of the condition. Thus, no desire to be well or to be healed.

You'll never find the solution if you don't see the problem. ~ Gilbert K. Chesterton

Here is good news:

“When the heart is ready the feet are swift” ~Abraham Lincoln

“When your heart is right with God … your life will follow.” ~ fem-v

If you desire to have your eyes opened & your heart softened this will require spiritual surgery ... which can only be done with the help of the “Great Physician” … it is a supernatural procedure that occurs in a willing heart. It requires recognition of the condition & a desire to change.

Everything in life flows from your heart.

The condition of your heart vitally affects sight & understanding.

Eye-opening words from Jesus Christ

“Though seeing, they do NOT see; though hearing, they do NOT hear or understand.”

“They have closed their eyes”

This is an act of the will. The result is chosen blindness.

Here is the cause of the inability to see & hear:

“This people’s heart has become calloused (dull-hardened)

Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.” ~ Matthew 13

The life-imparting, life-transforming point that Jesus was making:

Turn your heart toward God and be healed.

This too, is an act of will … AND it produces healing & blessing.

When Jesus finished explaining why he spoke in parables he said: “But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.” Matthew 13

“Divine Art”

If you could see inside your heart.

Broken places … broken apart.

Has hope become a drought?

When did the Light go out?

Has the door been closed?

For uncounted reasons no one knows.

A disconnected heart so easily turns to stone.

Did you forget to forgive & refuse to atone?

Can wounds be healed that can’t be seen?

Or does that just happen in a dream?

In “human-onions” … where does one start?

Peeling layers in the heart … this is Divine art.

Pascal Derrien I always am interested in what you will say my bee-friend ;~) I meant to include you in my response to Roberto below because your words in a way echoed his. n LIFE: there’s a line toward Light & belief … this path is filled with hope There’s also a line toward unbelief … this path is a dark & slippery slope A dash is just a tiny line … but it’s like our life upon the earth How we choose to fill that *“dash”* ... determines our life’s worth https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/lines-of-life “In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; In our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity, In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, Unrevealed until its season, Something God alone can see.” ~ Hymn of promise https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/time-decides And “Every happening, great and small, is a parable whereby God speaks to us, and the art of life is to get the message.” ~ Malcolm Muggeridge TRUTH is speaking to us during our brief earthly journey. It has been said “there are many paths but only One Way” One path offers eternal LIFE … the others are a mystery We FREELY choose the path we take ... the rest is history https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/breaking-free

Roberto De la Cruz Utria A rich comment Roberto One word leapt out "indulgences" I'll share this Puritan wisdom "Our affections bribe our discernment" 2) You say: "the masses will follow the leaders and the majority, without many alternatives and without caring too much about the truth" Perhaps that is why Jesus who declared Himself to be "Truth" explained "Narrow nd Wide Gates" ... He encouraged that we “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." ~ Matthew 7 3) I have found that the more I "know Christ" ... the less desire or need I have for human approval. ... perhaps Harvey Lloyd would add his unique perspective? It only takes "One Voice" Just one voice, singing in the darkness All it takes is one voice Singing so they hear what's on your mind And when you look around you'll find There's more than one voice Singing in the darkness Joining with your one voice Each and every note another octave Hands are joined and fears unlocked If only, one voice, would start it on its own We need just one voice facing the unknown And then that one voice would never be alone https://genius.com/Barry-manilow-one-voice-lyrics

John Rylance This is a powerful truth John "the other is to refuse to believe what is true" The worst form of deception is SELF-DECEPTION Your reference to political speech reminded me of these quotes by George Orwell “Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful ... murder sound respectable and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.” "In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act." “The misuse of language induces evil in the soul” Socrates "Misuse of language & Lying LIARS who LIE" https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/learning-misuse-of-language-and-lying-liars-who-lie Which further affirms what Orwell said: "But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought. A bad usage can spread by tradition and imitation even among people who should and do know better." 2) "de-nile" ... good one Ken Boddie might enjoy ;~) that made me SMILE ;~)

"the other is to refuse to believe what is true" This phrase put me in mind of this quote from a spoof political speech. "I do not consider existing conditions likely" How often have we heard this, while not in these precise words, said by those denying the truth? They are in denial, and we all know de-nile is a river in Egypt, which would be a joke if the whole thing wasnt so serious.

I guess the aspiration of the ultimate truth is the same for everybody but different versions of the truth apply depending on your belief system. In the end does it matter when the lights will be out ?

So what is it to be made in God's Image: 1. He creates through speaking 2. He creates that which is found Good. 3. He gives grace, where none is expected or warranted 4. He sacrifices for us. If we were to live our lives in this fashion the world would be a very different place. When we don't live our lives this way we must push the rock up the hill alone. Earn every step.

Harvey Lloyd Multiplied hanks Harvey for your wise perspective. "Man does NOT live by bread alone" ~ Jesus The thought that occurred to me reading your words We are spirit beings. This is something people "brush by" because they have not the understanding (or belief) that man is created in God's image. When Jesus said: "man does not live on bread alone". I think Jesus was pointing out that we focus too much on the flesh ... live too much in externals Here is blessing: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled" ~ Jesus Matthew 5:6 2) The temptation of Christ is profound. Jesus provides a real life experience & model for all who will face "temptation" (which is everyone) Luke 4 "Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit ... and was led by the Spirit" That is key. 3) You say: "Only a fool believes they have arrived, the destiny may be known but the roads we must travel are not" "A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16 Those "steps" are his own There will be push-ups along the way ... and no one can do your push-ups for you.

There are comments we have all heard and seem to attribute some minimal value. I think we brush past the temptation of Jesus by satan with response "man does not live on bread alone". I believe Jesus was the first philosopher. He started the world of philosophy as He made this statement. If it is not bread what is this other thing He refers? In my own world we all have unmet "emotional" needs. Brought on by life experience, bias build up and the works we do to support the bias. This is the nature of the apple. The only way out of this, and finding that other need that was mentioned by Jesus is to retain a sense of brokeness and hunger to unpack life. Everytime i think i have it figured out the page gets turned. I have come to realize i am merely at chapter two or three of novel that has written itself across time beyond my comprehension. Only a fool believes they have arrived, the destiny may be known but the roads we must travel are not. Any person who states follow me to your destiny will have lots of scrutiny applied. Because i know they have no clue as to the destiny's end itself, for me. They may have a destiny for themselves and need me to support their getting there, but they will travel alone. If bread is not the only thing we need it would be wise to describe this other need well.

Indeed, without spirituality it's hard (if not impossible) to eradicate the problem. Thank you Fay Vietmeier for illustrating this angle of the matter. It's not an either-or situation like many people tend to think, since a few centuries ago, scientists were quite spiritual too. Anyway, it's good to remember that there is discernment of the mind and discernment of the heart, both of which are necessary for someone to see and feel clearly. Without this skill, it's easy to fall prey to the plethora of illusions and delusions that plague the world today. Cheers!
