Hidden assets & "Human-sunflowers"

Hidden assets & "Human-sunflowers"

6ec2876a.png

Like hope, optimism is an act of will and an attitude of the heart

An optimist says “I can” … reflects being positive & willing
A pessimist says “I can’t” … reflects being negative & unwilling
Knowingly or unknowingly, we choose the attitudes of our heart. Those choices determine outcomes and the path of one’s life.

… “Human-sunflowers” are hidden assets …

Those people on your team (or in your inner-circle) who possess the valuable quality of optimism are like “human-sunflowers” They have been blessed and in turn so are those around them.

The quality of optimism is a proven emotional competence that can enhance employee morale, enrich relationships, boost productivity and thus have a positive impact on the bottom line.

A shout-out to team-builders & leaders: “Human-sunflowers” are solution-seekers who shine with positive perspective. Demonstrating a heart-attitude that is thankful & helpful, they seek to contribute to those around them.

In all likelihood, “human-sunflowers” are outnumbered by critics who act like crows: squawking around & swooping down to take & leave nothing behind … except perhaps fertilizer ;~)

So where does optimism come from?

“Our unique competencies (personal gifts & talents) come from God.” ~2 Corinthians 3:5

If optimism is not a gift that you have been given naturally then how do you get it? It can’t be manufactured so you won’t find it in any store … even Amazon (shocking ;~) does not sell “optimism” The good news is that it can be cultivated. It is an attitude of the heart & mind that can be learned if you are willing to do the work.

Here are some things to consider:

  • It is written: “As a man thinks in his heart so he is” … Thus it is essential to edify your mind. This means feed your mind good things. There is a universal principal that what you feed grows. Just as your body responds to good nutrition & exercise … so does your mind. Make it a priority to read for inspiration & personal growth.
  • (I love reading the Bible: Proverbs for wisdom and Psalms for Peace)
  • “Iron sharpens iron” … so hang out with positive-minded people
  • Bear in mind that the journey of personal growth is a process. Be patient with yourself & others.

Regarding attitudes of the heart (like optimism & gratitude) you must look inward … at your heart. When you are in the process of personal growth you will find that heart work can be hard work (the heart has a mind of its own …more on that later)

“When the heart is ready the feet are fleet.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

I have found that the most beautiful “human-sunflowers” are also SON-flowers ;~)

I have revised my original post to added a most insightful comment by @David-Navarro-Lopez

There are two things I would like to add to this precious post about optimism:
One, Optimism is a personal option, and as such, you are the only responsible for it. You can't blame anyone for the lack of it.
Two, optimism cultivating is a paradox, like learning a language unknown for you. Unless you speak it and write it, you won't learn it. So it is a "learning by doing thing" An advice for it could be, as starters, "fake it until you make it". Eventually, you will get it done. And along the way, you will need to play the "deaf frog". For the ones who don't know the story, they were a bunch of frogs which had the challenge to climb a tree. As long as they were climbing, many claimed it was impossible, and gave up. But one frog kept climbing to the top. When coming back down, they asked the winning frog, "how did you do it?" and she said, "sorry, I can't hear you"
https://www.bebee.com/producer/@david-navarro-lopez/why-being-optimistic-can-be-more-realistic-than-being-pessimistic

My comment back to David:

People, like frogs, can be hearing impaired (deaf)
For some (people) that impairment is chosen. Meaning they have the ability to hear but they choose not to (hear, listen or understand)
(I’m not sure if frogs have this attitude ;~)

Again, I believe optimism is an act of will ... an attitude of the heart (like hopefulness & gratitude)

I love this acronym for frog: Fully-Rely-On-God

If my words make you think … Great ;~) Please let me know your thoughts because “iron sharpens iron”

Feel free to share this post and if my words resonated in some way … let me know … your feedback is an encouragement

A glimpse of this writer ;~) I’m a heart-to-heart communicator.

My curious nature makes me a “queen of questions” … but gifted with the ability to listen ;~) I'm a woman of deep faith, a blessed mother, a voracious reader, a blossoming writer, a grateful person, a grateful citizen and a lover of beauty … I treasure family, true friendships and my loyal clients ... enjoy traveling, learning, good movies, good wine and golf.

@DavidNavarroLopez David~ How insightful ;~) I truly appreciate your rich “mind-stirring” comments (@AliAnani) “Never forget that, at the most, the teacher can give you fifteen percent of the art. The rest you have to get for yourself through practice and hard work. I can show you the path but I cannot walk it for you.” ~ Master Tan Soh Tin Another way of saying this: is no one can do your push-ups for you ;~) Who can judge how God is working in a human heart and transforming a human life? Not me … Only God can see the human heart. “By their fruits you will know them” … but we can assess the quality of the fruit ;~) I responded to @MiguelAngelValarian earlier: The Living words in the Bible will transform us as we read ... as we cooperate ... as we follow ... as we are obedient ... as we grow in our knowledge of Christ & God the Father Growing to "know Him more"... is a sowing & reaping process. (that little word “as” reveals much) I have learned: The Holy Spirit can only do for me what I allow Him to do in me ;~)

@MiguelAngelValarian Miguel ~ Thank you for reading this buzz and thoughtfully commenting. All Scripture is "God-breathed" ... living words that will transform us as we read...as we cooperate...as we follow...as we are obedient ... as we grow in our knowledge of Christ & God the Father (as God has revealed Himself to us in the Bible) Growing to "know Him more"... is a sowing & reaping process. I have learned: The Holy Spirit can only do for for me what I allow Him to do in me ;~) I live this poem which is the gracious invitation of Jesus: "Follow Me and I will make you Make you speak my words with power Make you vessels of my mercy Make you loving sons & daughters Follow Me and I will make you Make you what you cannot be (on your own) Make you faithful, trusting holy Make you even just like Me." ~ Jesus

@DavidNavarroLopez David~ I am so glad to e-meet you by way of @AliAnani & beBee I value your insights and thanks for sharing that you read the Bible. I am convinced that there would be much more wisdom & less division if more people did read the Bible ;~) The more I read God's Word ... the more I love it and can attest that the "God-breathed" Words are living & trans-formative. "Come let us create man in our image" ... Revelation that is lost by so many Being created in God's image ... we are being tri-une beings: a spirit with a soul ... encased in a body "this treasure in a jar of clay" The human will is a compass that guides outcomes Will I will? or Will I won't? Indeed! what a gift ;~) ... When I pray for a person I always pray that the Lord will grant them a willing spirit ... "Our competencies come from God" 2 Cor 3 ... in my way of thinking (human-opinion) ... optimism, like hope are uniquely gifted in some personalities ... but as stated in this brief buzz ... I do believe that many valuable qualities (like optimism) can be cultivated. I had taken a Prayer Ministry program at a Bible College a few years back ... it was not so much about prayer as gaining understanding about all the ways that humans are broken and need prayer. That "breaking" can and does start in the womb. If the mother has peace & contentment within herself/takes care of herself physically & emotionally ... this is passed to the baby or If a mother lives with anxiety/unrest-conflict/is not caring for herself physically & emotionally (this could include for example: some form of drug abuse) ... the baby receives all that And the first years are so formative ... it is crucial to nurture...nurture...nurture in these early years In parenting (as in leading) "More is caught than taught" Wishing God's rich wisdom & blessing upon your life and family & work ~ In His Light, Fay

Dear Fay, I am overwhelmed by the honour you have made me on your wonderful buzz. I am as well a "Bible reader", and have strong beliefs. One of them is that the greatest God's gift is the freewill, if not the only one on this sense. Why do I say that? Because of your words "If optimism is not a gift that you have been given naturally..." I believe human beings are not "optimistic born" We got it from our parents, mainly from our mother. It is known the placenta permeability to cortisol and other hormones towards the fetus, same as her feelings like anxiety or happiness, which affect directly to the growing baby. In my opinion, optimism is not God's gift, but our parent's gift. In the other hand, knowing that, as you say, “human-sunflowers” are outnumbered by critics who act like crows, being optimistic is not easy all the time. But as Bruce Lee used to say, "some targets in life are not intended to be reached, but to have a direction where to aim to." Proud to be on your thoughts, thank you.
