On the way to becoming your best you … and how the Light gets in

On the way to becoming your best you … and how the Light gets in

4b1e4718.png

Blossoming is optimized by being “in the Light” … and understanding with the heart.

Blossom: to mature or develop in a promising way … to come into one’s own … to evolve … to become evident (clearly seen or understood)

“Only you are you … As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has - or ever will have - something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression." In that process of discovery: "All of us, at some time or other, need help.” ~ Mr. Rogers

The “blossoming” process:

Every person can benefit from working with a good psychologist (therapist) at some point in life. There are seasons in life that present goals, challenges & situations … sometimes even crisis. Turning to a counseling professional for help, support & understanding can be most beneficial.

Outcomes depend on both the counselor and the person seeking counsel …

"Good" is the key ;~)

Good psychologists (counselor-therapist) are "coaches" … because team work is required. There are many variables & complexities in the process of personal growth.

For the person seeking counsel: what is their starting point … their level of understanding, personal beliefs, life experience and life perspective … commitment to do the work?

Responding earlier to this buzz about psychology coaching:

The work of personal growth (and-or healing) is a sowing & reaping process ... much depends on the person: Have they purposed in their heart to do the work? There can be time goals and time-outs. Realistic timelines for the “work” being accomplished ... some progress can be made in a matter of “weeks or months” … but in truth personal growth and/or healing is a life journey. Best outcomes are achieved when the person is fully engaged & committed to the process (whole-hearted)

This truth: “No one can do your push-ups for you” ~GS

People are complex and the process of personal growth is unique to each person.

We are spirit beings with a soul ... in a body. "This treasure in a jar of clay"

It is written in Psalm 139 that "we are fearfully & wonderfully made” (I think on such things)

Human beings are born into a sin-filled world ... each person is “broken” ... the question is where are we broken & to what degree.

“Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There’s a crack in everything

That how the light gets in” ~ (some attribute this to Leonard Cohen others to Earnest Hemingway)

…Growth requires Light…

“For with you Lord is the fountain of life; in Your Light we see light.” ~ Psalm 36:9

I can say from experience and from many laps around the "cornfield of life" that personal growth and healing comes down to being “in the Light” and … understanding with the heart …

“The heart is the well-spring of life” ~ Proverbs 4

This personal testimony: I had an eating disorder for about 20 years. “Years that the locust ate” My healing came through faith in God, heart-transformation through cooperation with the Holy Spirit and understanding gained through wisdom (which came through counseling & study of God’s Word over many, many years … an ongoing process)

I can testify that “pain is the only instrument sharp enough to cause change” and that heart-work is hard work. It requires: willingness, openness, commitment and cooperation.

I have learned to seek the Highest Counselor. The Lord is available 24/7 … no appointments required and His Counsel and wisdom is free to everyone who seeks Him.

“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant and her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her.” ~ Proverbs 3:13-18

I have learned to cooperate: The Holy Spirit can only do for me what I allow him to do in me"

“In His Light” ~ Fay

From Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard:

Much-Afraid looked at the thorn and shrank from it. Then she looked at the Shepherd’s face and repeated his words to herself. ’When the seed of Love in your heart is ready to bloom, you will be loved in return,’ and a strange new courage entered her. She suddenly stepped forward, bared her heart, and said, ‘Please plant the seed here in my heart.

My curious nature makes me a “queen of questions” … but gifted with the ability to listen ;~) I'm a woman of deep faith, a blessed mother, a voracious reader, a blossoming writer, a grateful person, a grateful citizen and a lover of beauty … I treasure family, true friendships and my loyal clients ... enjoy traveling, learning, good movies, good wine and golf.
