Prayers for the “Lone Star” state … you are not alone Texas

Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton:

“Who indeed knows the secret of the earthly pilgrimage? Who knows for what we live, and struggle, and die? Who knows what keeps us living and struggling, while all things break about us? Who knows why the warm flesh of a child is such comfort, when one's own child is lost and cannot be recovered? Wise men write many books, in words too hard to understand. But this, the purpose of our lives, the end of all our struggle, is beyond all human wisdom.”  

Sometimes there are no right words … some things are “beyond all human wisdom”

Another time to pause & pray … this time for the hurting people in Odessa & Midland, TX (a mere few weeks ago it was El Paso & Dayton)

I love these comforting words from Isaiah 49

This is what the Lord says...

"I will not forget you!

See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;

your walls are ever before Me." 

We have been given this promise from heaven: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

God knows you … He is with you & for you. His greatest gift is that you can know Him.

God is Almighty, All-Seeing, All-Knowing, All-Powerful, All-Sufficient, Omnipotent & Omniscient

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you … to show you compassion” ~Isaiah 30:18

God knows you better than anyone: your parents or siblings … your best friend … your spouse … even better than you know yourself… In Psalm 139 this truth is beautifully written: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I am fearfully & wonderfully made. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. You have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out & my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.”

God loves you: continually & unconditionally. In His love letters to us … it is written: “I have summoned you by name, you are mine … you are precious & honored in My sight” ~ Isaiah 43:1,4-5

We have this assurance from God: “I am the Lord, your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you … do not be afraid … I myself will help you” ~ Isaiah 41:13-14

Jesus Christ has given His Word: “I will not leave you an orphan; I will come to you.” ~John 14

“I am with you always.” Jesus (Matthew 28)

What better time than now to “Draw to God” … with an earnest heart, in a quiet place … in child-like faith … just pour our your heart

No appointment is required God is available 24/7 … “he never sleeps or slumbers”

Our prayers are with you ... the strong & resilient hearts of Odessa, Midland … and El Paso will rise once again: “beauty from ashes”
