"Whirling Winds & Wounding Words"

“The wind blows wherever it pleases.

Where does it come from?

Where is it going?” ~ John 3

Whirling…rushing…unpredictable

…turbulent…twisting...storm-like

…driven…impatient…erratic

Willful, wayward words:

Talking tantrums

Talking testing’s

Talking tirades

A mercurial man with multiplied words like rushing waters:

…uncontrolled…demanding…destructive

…gushing…rebellious…complaining

…blaming…accusing…retaliating

…cutting…judging …separating

…selfish…warring…wounding

…wearing and wearying

…worried and fearful

…hurt and hurting

“Quiet, be still.” ~ Jesus

Gentle, calm breeze … Be

~ Fay Vietmeier ~

”Whirling Winds … part II”

Am I your friend in vain?

Why do you treat caring with distain?

My encouragement will still remain

But please stop the “I can’t” refrain

Your mindset of fear is a run-away train

Warfare creates victims … that much is plain

It is possible to retrain your brain?

Even in the pit God sees your pain

Look up and move forward … my friend

Each moment … each day we get to choose

Be a person of faith or a person living in fear

Be a warrior or be a worrier

“Choose well” ~ Dr Benzio of the Lighthouse Network

I have a Friend who is always with me

But He is a spirit you cannot see

He is The WORD that forever will be

He holds the winds in storm-proof jars

He sends helping angels … near & afar

To help those in need … wherever they are

Poem was inspired by a “whirling wind” friend who battles the bipolar war within. He lost every material possession. His life was again in ruins. With his mind “whirling” my friend was (again) hospitalized for many long weeks. I frequently visited him and got to know some of the other like-minded patients. At times I would just sit with them … at times pray with them … extend kindness where I could.

… I became a bridge …

Firsthand, I learned how wearing, wearying and separating the condition called “bi-polar” can be. Relationships within families and friendships suffer greatly as does the person afflicted with the condition. Great empathy is needed to understand & cope. The mind is a mystery.

I offer this definition of empathize: feel your pain in my heart

I understand that humans are complex … even more complex when dealing with mental health issues.

There is power in presence.

Presence is a gift … especially when the bridge is over troubled waters

“When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I'll dry them all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down”

“Bridge over Troubled Water” Simon & Garfunkel

Your sweet words touch my heart Liesbeth ... many thanks Sharing this lovely Irish blessing that carries the promise of gentle breezes ... "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

Hello to my favorite "hat tipping" lad... I'll picture this in the morning mirror and that will being a SMILE ;~) True: "The wind blows from where it was created" The Keeper of winds opens a "storm-proof" jar and releases it ... wither it should go ;~) “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

Joel Anderson Thank you Joel for reminding me again of Windsong by John Denver (I used a line from this beautiful song in "Lines of Life" poem) The wind is the taker and giver of mornings The wind is the symbol of all that is free So welcome the wind and the wisdom she offers Follow her summons when she calls again In your heart and your spirit let the breezes surround you Lift up your voice then and sing with the wind ... have tucked away this lovely song & will find a way to pay tribute ... in another poem or post I will remember "Windsong"

John Rylance Preston 🐝 Vander Ven I'm repeating your wisdom-filled response Preston to John ;~) for I could not say it better ;~) "Wind can be seen like circumstances in life that we are not able to control. The pessimist complains about it; the optimist expects it to change; and the realist adjusts the sails." Thank you both for reading & contributing your thoughts ;~)

Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee Your are blessed with a thinking mind my dear Professor ... I always look forward to what you see in my writing ... and value your insights Thank you for your sweet sharing ;~) which reflects your caring ;~) "Whirling minds" are all around us ... and there are dark clouds in those whirling winds WITHIN ... producing fear and anxiety (in the physical & in the spiritual) ... This is very evident in the Corona virus challenge that is unfolding Your words: "Minds in such states don't know where they are going" mirrors Scripture "a man walking in the dark does not know where he is going" This condition does indeed "cause chaos around them" ... We can see this all around us it seems a prevailing wind ... it is reflected in politics ... in leadership ... in cultures & society's around the world No matter where you find the condition of "whirling winds or wounding words" ... it is best met with CALM & reason ... with gentle authority & understanding. Wisdom is required to respond "In our stormy world with all its turbulence we need new leaders with the qualities your friend has" So True Ali ... my "Friend" as you know is the Lord ... "Our days & times are in His hands. He tells the winds where to go and is an "ever-present help in need" ... "beneath His everlasting arms is safety & refuge" ... and He gives wisdom to all seeking hearts I'm headed to your new post (have been working from a tablet which is a bit of a handicap for this bee ... as I'm transitioning to a new laptop)

A great piece, looking at the various guises of the wind, and it's uses. The opening line is so true. We can't raise the wind we would like from the warm gentle zephyr breeze on a summer evening, to fierce gusts that fill the sails of our boat, or the unwanted turbulence as we bumpily fly through the sky. Always the wind chooses what we get.

Fay Vietmeier You are a poet and great writer. Having read your post three minds I find me asking if "turbulent minds"or "whirling minds" have the same issue with whirling winds: "“The wind blows wherever it pleases. Where does it come from? Where is it going?” Whirling…rushing…storm-like …turbulent…twisting…unpredictable …driven…impatient…erratic Minds in such states don't know where they are going and cause chaos around them. So much imagination is pouring in mt mind imagining a whirling mind in different situations such as running a meeting, lecturing a big audience or even driving on the road. In our stormy world with all its turbulence we need new leaders with the qualities your friend has" He is The WORD that forever will be He holds the winds in storm-proof jars How could he do it? This is a great lesson in leadership. I am sharing your great post my friend.
