2018 will be a big year for beBee

2018 will be, without doubt, a fantastic year. We are very close to delivering the final product we have been working hard on for a long time. Despite some setbacks, we will be able to launch it very soon for the enjoyment of all our users.

This will be a new version, full of improvements and especially focused on removing the mistakes of the current version. Errors which have been addressed by beBee’s team effort, hard work and determination.

We would also like to point out that this has been possible, to a large extent, thanks to the new work system; a radical change in our work dynamics to focus on this common objective. In this new work system we are all aware of each other’s work, the priorities and necessities of each team, and the importance of every working phase. Such a system is used by Scrum...


Scrum is the best known agile framework for software development. It is an interactive and incremental method through which product development is divided in cycles. In each of these cycles -known as sprints- the team work is based on a list of priorities. Scrum is a process that incorporates a series of positive habits to implement in collaborative environments and in teams that strive to achieve the best possible result in their projects.

The Objective of Scrum

Scrum is an agile and flexible methodology to manage software development with the objective of maximizing the return on investment (ROI) to your company.

Roles of Scrum

The Scrum team is composed by the following roles:

Scrum master: The person in charge of leading the team, guiding it so that all rules of the methodology are followed and all processes are done correctly. He is in charge of reducing obstacles throughout the project and he works with Product Owner as a means to maximize the ROI.

Therefore, beBee’s work has focused on a model of quality assurance (QA), in which I perform the role of Product Owner. This has allowed me to get to gain a detailed overview of the work, as well as a close look into the development teams (Front-end, Backend y Mobile). In addition, this has permitted me to work hand-in-hand with our CTO -Alberto Anaya Arcas y Ana María Fernández Soriano: development directors and Scrum Masters- to start planning the work each team would carry out. With such great co-workers it has been easy to move forward and to maintain that passion for our line of work and our daily craft. With them it never feels like work, and that is what makes it great.

I would also like to mention our UX y Creative Director: Noël De Castro. He plays an essential part in everything I learn and will continue to learn alongside him.

Finally, Juan Imaz and Javier beBee, without whom none of the personal growth I’ve experienced in the past 2 years would have been possible and to whom I am very thankful. Thank you to the latter, for entrusting me with this work and always continuing to do so.

Work System

Work meetings are an essential part of our daily activities; meetings in which all members of the team are given the chance to give their opinion on the work and to make constructive suggestions about how to improve it. We organize and divide the implementation process in Sprints of 2 or 3 work weeks so that the overall work and the different Demos can be evaluated productively.

The post-it system we use is quite an interesting one. Our little friends of different colors are a must in our retrospective meetings. They help us put our ideas on display, to mark things that need improvement and to highlight and celebrate successes within the team. In short, they are our carrier pigeons to let all members of the team know what we need and think for the project and work system to succeed.

I have -and will continue to- truly enjoy this “work” that is testing and fiddling in order to break down my colleague's work and help it grow back.

Soon this new and awaited beBee will arrive. From here, I encourage all of my co-workers to make the last effort and to hold up for the few weeks of work and development to come, so we can all reach our objective together.

I know how eager you are to see the new product with your own eyes. I thank you for your patience through all of this process; we won’t disappoint you. We have also learnt a lot from you. You are always quick and attentive, helping us see things from different perspectives and giving us insight into your user experience.

I share this design with you -made by a friend of mine from Venezuela- to sum up what beBee is for me: passion and positive attitude, like the one displayed by the Bumblebee Man, against the apathy and dullness of the hopeless clown, Krusty.

Users oppinions are of a great importance and the two-way discussions, including critical discussions. Ll decline is mostly the result of unlistening of passionate users. Creating of platform (changes) is a mutual task for owners and users..
