Characters living in the XVI century!
Ever wondered what would happen if Superman had been born in the sixteenth century? And if the Hulk was a duke? And if Wonder Woman wore those baggy clothes instead of their traditional swimsuit with skirt? And if Darth Vader was member of the Court at Versailles?
It was imagined that the photographer Sacha Goldberger. He recreated superheroes in Flemish paintings, paying homage to painters like Jan Vermeer and Jan van Eyck - entitled to bouffant sleeves, lace at the neck and knit pants for men and dresses with bodices and long, full skirts for women.
According to the artist, the collection of photographs aimed to change the characters of vision as Batman, Iron Man and Captain America: "American superheroes are invincible, strong, never grow old, never die; they have no time for themselves, because instead, just have to save people in my series, they have time for themselves, are fragile, romantic for me, it is a comparison between strong America and the romantic old Europe;.. are different ways of seeing things between two continents. "
To mount the photos, Goldberger had help over 100 people, including 5 costume designers, 7 makeup artists and 5 hairdressers.
