Magento officially announced M2 in November 2015, via this post on their blog! 

Their opening paragraph is certainly one to get excited about...

''The new platform empowers brands, retailers, and businesses across B2C and B2B industries to quickly and cost-effectively deliver engaging omnichannel shopping experiences. Magento 2.0 also offers enhanced performance and scalability, new features to boost conversion rates, and business agility and productivity improvements. The new platform also builds on our open source heritage and offers unmatched flexibility and innovation opportunities to our global ecosystem of partners and developers''.

In our opinion, some of the best improvements over M1 are:

  • Embedded PayPal & Braintree integration
  • Will run on average 20% faster than M1
  • Streamlined checkout process
  • Enhanced mobile experience
  • Improved automation system

Magento 2 - Is it for You?

In the coming months Digital Boutique will be launching our first M2 sites and really looking forward to sharing these with you. According to Magento HQ, M1 will stop being supported from Q4 of 2018, so now would be the time to consider this!
