Go FISHING..Dont get PHISHED

Go FISHING..Dont get PHISHED

Spammers and hackers are always trying to find new ways to grab your data--and one way is to PHISH.
Same concept as "fishing" but digitally, not with a line and pole.

#dataISmoney   ...   Let me repeat that hashtag:
                                                     💲 DATA 💲 IS 💲 MONEY 💲

With the way our lives have changed--and even more so with how we are doing business online-- there is NO going back. Our lives are digitally forever changed by the way.

Because of this evolving way of doing business online, its much easier to decorate a box to look like a cake, call it a cake, and sell it as a cake, but it is NOT a cake....spammers, phishers, hoaxes and hackers are even MORE sneaky snakes and evolve as well when the tide changes--lots of times faster than the average person can.

This article by That's Nonsense guts a specific 🐟 phising 🐟scam like a fish that is devised to look like a serious Facebook security breach. (Sneaky sneaky Scammers!) The guys at That's Nonsense rcvd a phishing email in their inbox and they explain in EXCELLENT detail each step the scammer takes to get some unsuspecting person to hand over the keys to the yacht. 🚤

🧐Crib notes if you dont have time read the article🤓

🔹THE HOOK🔹

◾️ You get an email that claims to be from Facebook Support. (ooooo yea those are scary)

◾️ It looks very real and official and the point is to SCARE you into taking action.

                                                          ◾️◾️◾️STAY CALM◾️◾️◾️

🔹THE LINE🔹

◾️ In this reveal, the link in the email takes one to an actual fb page.

◾️ They use a little known feature that FB called NOTES (You have seen them most likely in groups)

◾️ These notes sometimes have a list of links to other pages and services but in this case, the link in the notes looks like a complaint report. (Rut ROH! You are in trrrrrouble!)

                                                                                   ◾️◾️TIP◾️◾️
To see the TRUE destination of the link in the "message" hover your curser over the link--do NOT click the link just hover over it and check the status bar to see the actual url.

🔸THE SINKER (or is that "stinker"?)🔸

◾️ The link sends you to a spoof site

◾️ It LOOKS like you are still on FB but again, the URL adrs in the adrs bar will confirm it is NOT Fb.

◾️ THIS is where you would give away your access info.

⚓️(But YOU, my dear reader are now informed and armed!

You would not have gotten this far on this phishing trip🐟.

You would have packed up your bags and headed off to a better destination)

⚓️Glo's notes🐟

🔹 Do not EVER click on any links in an email to anything that would require you to sign in to an account that you were not previously expecting.

🔹Either call vendor/service provider directly from a phone number on an invoice (not the email) or go directly to the account on line from your usual process

🔹If you suspect the email you got is fraudulent, contact your provider. They may either ask you to forward it to them or make note.

🔹Always try to SEE the links true view. (as noted in the LINK section)

There are other ways as well to determine if an email is not legit...that my friends, for another day.
