Greatness and the status quo

Greatness and the status quo

c7038df9.jpgIt’s been said that the thing that keeps us from greatness is the status quo. Be that our daily routine or simply the way we are content to say in our comfort zone. Our daily routine is usually a set series of tasks that keep us on track and is usually efficient in obtaining our goals. The problem arises when we desire a different goal.

If every morning you make a cup of “English Breakfast” add a touch of sugar and a dash of milk you are quite content and set for the morning. The only problem is this sets you on a preset pattern for your day. Wrong you say? Break your normal pattern, disrupt your morning routine, and see if I am wrong.

Greatness generally arises not from necessity but from effort mixed with a little ingenuity. The thought is that our status quo reduces the effort with ingenuity. Out effort is still present but it is set in a set pattern. Ingenuity is the key, the trick that causes us to act in a different pattern.

So the answer is to break all your patterns and disrupt your life. No. The idea is to recognize that what you are doing is going to accomplish what you are currently accomplishing. What do you believe is greatness? What do you want to accomplish? What pattern should you modify in order to reach that goal? Ingenuity is taking the time to find the answers to these questions.

You are so right we do teach repeat the same expect the change. You have most likely heard the quote "practice makes perfect". But if what you are practicing is partially what is wrong. you are not going to getting any better. Getting feed back from others is very helpful when we trust the source, or evaluate the advice from others and apply what strikes us as valuable.
