Placing pen to page
Remember when writing was placing pen to page where you had the satisfaction of feeling the draw of the pen on the paper? When the act of writing activated the senses and encouraged thought and inspiration?
Well those days appear to be long gone. Now we sit before a screen and type. We hit little buttons and words jump onto the screen like little ants in a row. It is not the same. Yes there is a tactile feeling but hardly slimier to the drag of a good pen on paper. The right weight enhanced by good balance producing a free flowing sentence. Now we adjust keyboards to obtain the rebound we like.
Is it just about change or was there something to holding onto that pen that provided something to writing? Keyboards are great, they are faster and permit quick adjustment of sentences and corrections, and to be honest I have written more words on a keyboard than with a pen, but are they better words?
While some changes are more efficient creating more positives then negatives, we do end up losing some aspects of creativity which could possibly be greater than we might first believe. Now I am not saying we need to get rid of our keyboards and return to pens but I am saying not all changes produce the results we believe they are producing.
We are living in uncertain days which often force us to change, some of these changes will be beneficial and will encourage positive growth for those who are able to enact them correctly. But some of the changes that are being applied have negative effects that have yet to be evaluated.
Be alert to what you are doing so that you can take the best advantage you can during this historical event. A quick mind and a sharp eye can guide you to excellent solutions. Use these days well.
Blessings

It is true that for some the keyboard is king. And while it fits use it well!

Hi John, I completely understand your point. Keyboards have there place and one of their great advantages is exactly what you pointed out.

Ken, I much prefer to use pen on hard copy when editing myself. Your comment about keeping the best of both is exactly on point! I find that if I am not alert to finding that mix I am prone to extremes.
