Standing on the precipice

Standing on the precipice

If you are involved even a little on any social platform you have noticed a vast barrage of hate and frustration. Post after post spewing hate and anger. Many of these posts are answered by supporters and opposition with many of the responses holding greater expressions of anger and hate than the original post. Why?

We stand on the precipice. We stand ready, posed to jump off of the edge of stability. Emotions are draining and costly but they also bring out the emotions of others. Each expression encourages greater expressions from our readers. And while this is a great thing if we are attempting to build enthusiasm for a project or a startup, it is not so nice when all it is encouraging is more hate and frustration.

Hate does not bread solutions it breads hate. Anger does not encourage answers it encourages more anger. Sure anger can be used for energy and motivation for action but generally the action is not one for positive results. The best plans are not usually conceived from anger but from considered thought. Anger and hate are motivators true, but they do not promote solutions that are sustainable.

If you are angry stop and determine why. Stop and ponder just why you are mad. Were you insulted, made to look inferior, upstaged …? Take the time to evaluate your emotion and then the source of those emotions, emotions are amazing and terrific tools but they must be evaluated before their true value is available.

If you remember we started this discussion with hate. Yes hate is an emotion but it is also a catch word people like to throw it around in an attempt to express just how frustrated they are or to express just where they stand. Hate is term that rarely needs explanation, it just is. So when someone declares they hate something the question of why is asked but rarely actually answered. So next time you read someone say they hate this or that do not agree with them until you know why they hate and you truly agree with their position. Because hate is never your best friend.

The only true solution to hate is the destruction of the thing you hate. You or it must go. So before you hate, before you jump off the precipice, recognize the truth of the situation you are looking at. Stop and ponder because in all reality we are standing on the precipice and way too many people are eager to simply push us off.

Where are your feet placed?

Blessings
