The Myth of multitasking and its grip on you

The Myth of multitasking and its grip on you

A N/
Wf i? 1

The reality of focus is that we actually focus on one thing at a time. What this means is if we desire to accomplish something we need to focus on it. True when we come to a block in our progress it can sometimes be helpful to distract ourselves for a moment to clear out our blockage. But when truth is told the myth of multitasking is much more dangerous than we might believe.

Multitasking is the belief that we can accomplish more than one task at a time in an efficient manner. This is faults. It is possible to accomplish multiple tasks in a slimier time frame but not only is efficiency is lost as is accuracy and creativity. But what is the big problem if the tasks in question are mundane and routine? Such as a receptionist, who has to answer phones deal with the desk and a multitude of other activities? The reality is you will never know what was lost during the day. What question was not asked, what information was not transmitted, or what small piece of information was not written down.

When it comes down to our day we often seek to tackle multiple issues at the same time usually because we feel that is the best way to accomplish them all. If you were to actually approach each with a focus, placing your attention on it alone you would notice an increase of accuracy and with the additional bonus of creative solutions that would have long term benefits.

In truth this belief in multitasking is so strong that many of you who read this and agree with me will continue to attempt to multitask to your own frustration. I know this because of my own failures in this area. The danger I referred to above was this ingrained belief and the resultant and continual loss we experience. The hard part is that the loss we have is one that is not recordable; it is a loss that is based on what could have been not on what is and then went missing.

So in conclusion let me simply say strive for focus and success taking each task as it comes and strive to remain on task until you come to an end.

Blessings
