The purpose driven plume
Today, as I sat down to write, the only consistent thing I could think of was why. Why write anything? Why should I spend the time and thought attempting to place words on a page that generally fail to reach their goal? What goal you might ask, therein lies the problem. What goal? What is the point of the words placed on the page? Are they intended to entertain? Perhaps these words are intended to inspire or inform. But a goal is essential.
What goal do I have for the words I am placing on this page? Do I even have a purpose, or am I just writing? As you read this you might begin to think that indeed a goal must be set, an agenda is placing these thoughts upon this page. But is there?
To be successful you need to have a goal. Any leader will tell you this from the beginning. Any job you have will have placed center front the agenda of the job. Regardless of the job you accept, there is a goal, a point, a purpose. This is the same for writing. When telling a story, you must have a goal in mind to direct your pen and draw out the readers' interest or at least their attention. To build this interest in what you are placing down, a purpose is indeed needed. What is that purpose? What is that goal?
Tomorrow you might have a task to write a proposal, a simple request for an agenda. But obtaining that agenda is your goal, it is the purpose of that article. Placing your pen to page or more accurately placing type to screen, is guided by this desire. But today, why are you writing? Why am I?
You like myself, have read many posts and books as well as many articles of varying lengths, many of which were well written but failed to have or at least achieve a goal. Without this goal, this purpose, the words regardless of how well written have no point. On the other hand, a word placed on the page with a well-defined agenda even poorly written will bring home its point.
So before you place your pen to page or key to screen determine what your goal is. Take the time to define your goal as clearly as you are able. If possible create a picture in your mind of what you want to achieve, then write that picture.
I hope this meandering tale blesses your day.
Blessings.

Hello Zacharias 🐝 Voulgaris, thank you for stopping by. Keep up the great work!! The magician is good and in writing even better. Though to be honest when I am called the fool I fail to take it as well. My pride still overfloweth. I would expect it to be not as full after weighting as long as I have been now thought.

Lada 🏡 Prkic Hello. Interesting post. I generally read too much into posts and comments as I anticipate that the one posting has a point to make even if it is simply to say hello. I expect I might be wrong but I know I will continue to look. Thank you for adding to my information base. To be honest I would not have guessed you did not naturally write in English. My Spanish writing is far from as complex as your obvious skill in English.

Personally I'm ok with being thought of as a fool. After all, the card that follows the Fool on the tarot is the Magician... :-)
