Tis the season... for war?

Tis the season... for war?

Tis the season for Christmas carols and holiday music. We have entered into the time of year where the time between sun rise and sun set feel shorter and shorter, simply because it is. This is the time of year that lifts your heart, reminds you of lost love ones or brings some feelings of pain. This is the time where people are quick to take offence for the slightest remark, or if their cup happens to be the wrong color.

Why is it that this time of year is so problematic? Tempers flare and patience wane, yet we call it the happiest time of year. A time for family gatherings that fewer and fewer people want to attend. A war is waging fiercely this time of year, a war between the esoteric and the exoteric; a war that sets neighbor against neighbor and family member against family member. Is all that matters about life contained within what we know, or is there something outside?

This season elevates religions and the perception of spiritual idea, hence the war. Not all religions are the same, nor do they claim to be. Some elevate mankind as supreme while others reduce men to mere ooze that climbed out of the sea. There are still more that believe that there is a God that resides outside of nature and is above all, making man neither ooze not supreme. What you believe is brought to the fore, requesting to be presented, to be known, not hidden not ignored.

So recognize what you believe and understand that it does actually matter or this time of year would not have so many conflicts. You might believe that Jesus is the Christ or that mankind evolved from the sea or neither, but you believe something. What you believe matters and knowing what you believe matters even more.

The war is real, but do you know where you stand and even why you stand there? This is not a call to arms but a call to thought. This is a request that we all might be aware of why we fight and become so frustrated this time of year. Then perhaps, just maybe, possibly, considerately find a solution.

And if this is not your experience then may you have and absolutely amazingly blessed and marry Christmas! If your experience tends more toward what I have described may this season be one of peace and hope, may it too be filled with love. Have a truly marry Christmas.
