Who do you trust?

Whether you are running a company or buying groceries who you trust matters. You depend on that person to accomplish the tasks you need for them to have done. We delegate responsibilities and need to be comfortably assured that our best is the governing objective.

I expect for most of us we have used trial and error mixed with recommendations from the people we currently trust to find new people or places in which to place our trust. These decisions can be very stressful. Hiring a new position is not just a moments consideration, nor is looking for a new home or car. So it is no wonder that the consideration for the one who controls our eternity is the most emotional.

We are told that in polite conversation we should not bring up politics or religion. The idea is not to bring up areas of great stress and emotional interaction. The truth is discussing eternity is very difficult for many. We enjoy discussing the local sports team because while it might feel like we live and die by the score board we know we don’t.

The problem with discussing religion is that in most cases we end up debating nuance of theology or personal opinion of scripture. But the question “who do you trust” is a bit different. So, who do you trust? Do you trust yourself to balance the scales prior to death? Or perhaps you do not believe that there is an eternity and at death nothing remains. You could believe in god, but if so which one? So do you try trial and error, or look for someone you trust and seek advice?

According to the polls (all of them) there are a lot of people searching, seeking to find a reasonable answer to the question “who can I trust?”. If you are one who is looking I suggest you scrutinize the character of the person giving the advice as closely as you evaluate the answer they give. Your eternity is worth the effort.
