Mercedes-Benz's Semi Autonomous Urban eTruck Concept
What the Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck and Future Bus with CityPilot ideas lack in appearance than a better tech appeal.
Introducing alongside the Mercedes-Benz Vision Van idea at this year’s IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hannover, Germany, the two ideas show how Mercedes-Benz forecast to compound alternative force and semi autonomous technologies into its future commercialized vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck concept is a more latest and better-realized take on the disguised Urban eTruck model the name showed off earlier this season. The Urban eTruck idea maintains the model’s large 212 kWh battery pack, which can energy the gigantic rig’s electric engines for up to 124 miles before charge required. Such a minor range makes cross-country driving all but hopeless, Mercedes-Benz believes the truck’s range is abundance for urban environments.
Mercedes’s envisions the Urban eTruck being bought en masse as part of a fleet, as the idea includes a fleetboard telematics system that keeps line of each truck’s charge and the route to ensure no truck is moved out on a transportation without adequate charge in battery to get back. Along with a gathering of screens that show relevant message such as battery range and capacity, the Urban eTruck also comes supplied with three driving modes as Eco, Agile and Auto. Eco is to provide maximum range, while Agile is suitable for most power and Auto is balance between the two.
Although Mercedes-Benz has no present ideas to make the Urban eTruck, the company hints that such a truck could conceivably come production by the commencing of the next decade. The Mercedes-Benz Future Bus with CityPilot relies on a more conventional powerplant having a six-cylinder diesel engine, though the German name’s city bus concept is no less technologically superb than its Urban eTruck. CityPilot brings semi-autonomous technology that assists, but do not replace driver. Company claims that the system can spy masses and hindrances in the roadway and automatically apply the brakes if needed. It also can drive and speed the car as needed. On top of this, the car can convey with the traffic lights on its path, modifying its speed as needed to dodge excess idling.
