Volkswagen To Fix V-6 Diesel

Volkswagen To Fix V-6 Diesel

There has been lot more puzzle about what Volkswagen be doing for buyback diesels. Now, Volkswagen has come to a settlement with government on a fix for its emission cheating 3.0-liter V-6 diesels, reported by Bloomberg. This would follow the previously publicized settlement about the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel cars.

Unlike the 2.0-liter TDI, for which there is no authorized correction that can transport the motor into emission compliance, it appears that at least some versions of the 3.0-liter TDI can be via a software modify. The engine was traded in the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, Audi A6, Audi A7, Audi A8 and Porsche Cayenne during the version years from 2009 to 2016.

Of the roughly 80,000 whole cars affected, it’s calculated that three-quarters could be made emission compliant, although at what outgo to fuel economy or performance is not yet known. Old versions, for which a program modify would be deficient, would have to be purchased back.

It’s accepted that Volkswagen is desiring to evade the cost of having to purchase back all of the 3.0-liter cars, the company already is on the catch for nearly $15 billion for the buyback of some 500,000 2.0-liter diesels. Still to be determined is whether possessors of the brand-new V-6 TDIs could specify to vend back their automobiles rather than get them mended . Also secret is what monetary recompense VW will offer V-6 TDI possessors and lesses.
