Pearls of Dawn

Pearls of Dawn

Bin.

The post-dearth re-birth of mirth

As the sun rose it dawned upon me. When it set, I had no recollection of its dawning. But on meeting up with Dawn a few days later, recollection burst forth. It was at about this time that it occurred – a convergence point of many seemingly unrelated concepts and phenomena which had given rise to a whiff of a thought. Soon I emerged whiff thought in mind – a mindful thought. But what to do whiff this thought? It’s been made abundantly clear in the forums of SM that unless you can make a lot of money out of a thought and/or impress many others with your profoundness and uniqueness, it 'aint worth squat!

Well I carried my thought around whiff me for a couple of weeks. Generally I was able to go about my business, but every now and then the thought distracted or interfered. It got to the point where I realized that I had to get rid of it, bury it or share it. Sharing it seemed the most effective way of ridding myself of it because for better or worse it would be out there and beyond me.

So here’s the thought: I don’t think we control anything. All situations arise out of the previous one ... all the way back to our conception and beyond. And that applies to everyone. We’re all products of our nurture heritages and the ensuing life narratives. This results in a pretty influential die in which we were cast – it determines our choices and preferences and what environmental noise we tweak and what tweaks us. The truth of the matter is that in most cases we're not only programmed to engage, we’re often not even aware of the engagement!

This is all fertile ground for the power mongers of all types. They perceive the vacuum and hence the opportunity – billions of zombies that can be overtly, covertly or subliminally stroked, stoked, harnessed and used. And indeed the orchestration of the masses occurs, with the help of the spinners and the mass media. That all just adds a further layer separating us from some authentic sliver of ourselves and of the extended environment.

Whiff a heavy heart I turned to Dawn. “I don’t want to be a Zombie, Dawn!”, I cried out.

“Then you aren’t a Zombie and won’t be one. A real Zombie doesn’t not want to be a Zombie”, she retorted.

“But what am I then, Dawn?” I asked

“You are Dawn’s Recollector” was the reply. She continued, “ To recollect your own thoughts and string them together with your own new thoughts and those of others, allows you to see beyond your little box that was made for you by you and all the ghosts before you.”

But I guess I’ll have to keep my thoughts to myself. It's because the Zombies are too busy doing what Zombies do while other Recollectors string what they choose to string irrespective of my string of pearls. But Pearl’s a stringer in a band!

It just Dawned on me that I’d rather go forth sharing humor than thoughts. There’s something special about laughing with another. The chuckle, the guffaw, that belly-laugh. Feeling warm all over. And somehow in the mirth there’s the acknowledgement that we’re all in this together. Without humor, folk become mirthiless.

Let’s be brothers and sisters in mirth. Let’s laugh – at ourselves, at each other and even at Trump! Indeed. With the setting of the sun it Dawned upon me.

It was really no myth, When I first caught that whiff, That aroma of bowel bursting laughter, For with mirth comes great power, That can grow by the hour, Till we’re splitting our sides ever after. Now when humour is clean, Like a well oiled machine, It will cheer us all up in no time, But ... Add a soupçon of dirt Taking care not to hurt, Then like cow poo to plants, quite sublime.

True John. Always better to laugh with someone than at someone. But sometimes the mirth just flows.

Many make fun of what Trump says/does/looks like etc. But does he ever show he has a sense of humour, intentionally say something funny.  Is it true Mirth/Humour if we just ridicule someone?  I always feel there is more lasting fun in laughing with someone rather than laughing at them.
