Help For First Time Homebuyers
I just renewed my Qualified Trainer status with Virginia Housing for another 2 years. As a facilitator, my next steps are to begin creating a class schedule, and update my team. The Homebuyer Education Program classes require a minimum of 3 housing professionals. I will also be advertising looking for those that want to take advantage of these free classes.
First time buyers that take these classes will be eligible for down payment assistance, grants, and VHDA loan programs.
Housing professionals that share their knowledge during these classes consist of Realtors, Lenders, Home Inspectors, Housing Counselors, Financial Planners, Credit Counselors, and closing agents. Each must speak for 45 minutes on their areas of expertise. No one gets paid for sharing their knowledge and expertise. Those that complete the class receive a certificate of completion that's good for 2 years. All steps in the home buying process are covered. They also receive a book with all information that is covered in classes. This book is a great tool to review what they've learned, and keep up on all topics that they will encounter during the home buying process.
An educated and prepared buyer has many advantages when their search for their first new home begins. That's why these classes are so important, and taught all over the state of Virginia.
