Division & Conquest. AKA Business As Usual In America

Division & Conquest. AKA Business As Usual In America

The Digital Sunday FaperI expect a lot of Americans (especially those with some vestage of faith left in the political system),  will be offended by this post. But as you can see from the quotes I have gathered, I'm not the only one who shares this opinion.

The United States of America is not united.
It is divided and the two sides of the divide continues to drift father and farther apart. It is one of the great sadnesses of my life to have to watch this and fear this because it will, before it is resolved, affect every part of the world to a greater or less extent.

I am not mystified by what is happening. But I am terrified by the way it is happening. It’s called the politics of distraction. And it has been purposely designed by the people who really run things in America to make sure that the lion’s share of the national budget goes to supporting the industries that make up A) the military industrial complex and b) Wall Street.
This has been pretty much the case since as far back as I can remember.
These industries, run by greedy, power hungry control freaks, work together to make sure that each is benefiting the other. Wall Street controls the stock market and the military industrial complex controls the ongoing war effort around the world. Through the CIA, they arm both sides in any given conflict and they do it well enough to ensure that the conflict will go on for as long as possible in order to maximize their profitability.

and child. Before |

All of this is done, of course with taxpayer money. So much of it in fact that many infrastructure and social programs, which are in great part responsible for the quality of life for all Americans, are given only a fraction of what they need to survive and barely provide basic services.
An article I read recently stated that for something like 4% of the annual defense budget, America could fund enough internal programs to give everyone affordable health care and create enough long term infra-structure projects to ensure virtually full employment.
So Why Isn’t This Happening?

It seems like such a simple, common sense solution. But then nothing in America is that simple.
The budget is controlled by the government. And the government is controlled by Wall Street, special interest groups and the arms industry.
For a very small percentage of their profits they simply purchase the politicans they need to get the legislation they need to make the money they want.

Where Does Trump Figure Into All This?

If you have read this far, you already know the answer to this question.
He doesn’t.

PENTAGON APPROVED og
On top of being a highly defective human being, he’s also a deal maker and has probably already been bought and paid for, and handsomely, by these special interests. That’s the deal he made. The deal that will get his Russian and Chinese creditors off his back.
In case you haven’t figure it out yet, Trump is merely a puppet, being put out in front of a bunch of really gullible people making all kinds of promises that he has no idea of how to keep and distracting the public while the bought off politicians keep passing laws that allow the special interests to thrive, Wall Street to boom and the military industrial complex to sell bigger and better toys to the military to fund the biggest idea of the 21st century, aka The War On Terror.
The concessions to Trump include allowing him to build a cabinet made up of carpetbaggers, thieves, white racists, and rich while people. The crazier it all gets the more the media and the people are distracted from what’s really going on.
And what’s really going on is the rich getting richer and the poor getting it where the sun don’t shine.
Nobody ever said capitalism was a game for the feint of heart.
So How Does This Change?

SUPPORT OUR BRAVE CEOs
TYR TT To ETLOL. It doesn’t. It’s simply the way things are. The government, it doesn’t matter which party, is a controlled entity that is doing the bidding of the real powers that be.
The key to survival is understanding that and finding your own niche in the massive substrata of this huge blanket.
Too many people in America still believe that it is the land of the free. It’s a comforting thought, but it’s nowhere near reality.
And the trouble with trying to wrest control from the powers that be is that no one group can ever get large enough or have more clout with the government than the people who already control it.
Trump makes a lot of noise about draining the swamp. But the swamp can’t be drained. Not only does he not know how to do it. He simply will never be allowed to do it.
So you can support Trump all you like. You can comment on how refreshing it is to have a president who speaks his mind, even if he’s bullshitting you most of the time.
But at a certain point you have to judge him on his performance. And frankly there will be nothing to judge. Because all the crazy shit he wants to do like banning immigration and building a border wall will either be blocked by the politicians or the courts.
He’s a puppet, a wildly entertaining one, but a puppet nonetheless.
And so America will stat divided and the people who have always conquered will continue to do so. Because until America us truly united into a real democracy, they have you right where they need you.
Angry at each other and not them. And this year, you have Trump to thank for that.

A thoughtful post. It does make you wonder what the real agenda actually is. I mean the one candidate who should not have won did. Well look on the bright side - at least next time there will be better candidates (fingers crossed).

I would agree, government accounting is more mystery than real. It was the disparity of the numbers that were represented between military and healthcare.

Sorry Harvey Lloyd. But 598 Billion for the whole military seems ludicrously low.

Jim, I thought of sending this post to a number of friends but their probable tears kept me from doing it. How many warnings does it take?

The 2015 healthcare spending tab was Approx: 10,000 dollars per person or 3.2 trillion dollars, 4% of the 2015 defense budget is 24 billion. https://goo.gl/iHx7wN (The 2015 defense spending was 598 Bil.)

Jim Murray What can one say except ....yup I wholeheartedly agree . Greed conquers all and when the greedy have too much and are asked, "now what do you want?" the answer will always be, "More !" Thank you for a brilliant piece, albeit a sobering one .
