Gone. Us. Soon. Pfffft.
This is a rant. It’s not sugar-coated or politically correct. But the essence of it is simple…it’s me being pissed off and fed up with all the bullshit floating around out there and magnifying a tiny speck of it as I am wont to do every Friday.
So if this is something that you think might upset your precious sensibilities or political leaning, well have a nice day, ‘cause this isn’t for you.
Well it’s Friday. I look back on this week as kind of a blur. I’ve been working really hard to avoid becoming engaged at all the bullshit I see coming out of, well you name it.
It feels like the world is filling up with incompetent, greedy, fucked up assholes, working to take all they can get and screw everybody else.
Somewhere along the line, these people, mostly Conservatives or worse, have forgotten or are refusing to accept that the world is basically one interconnected eco-system, and that the need for internationalism, as opposed to nationalism, is critical to the survival of our species on this planet.
These levels of ignorance and greed are keeping the world from firing on all cylinders and being able to put forth the the kind of effort required to make a serious dent in the precarious future we all face.
In other words, they have sold out their humanity for a few pieces of silver.
In my neck of the words, we have monumental assholes like Doug Ford and Andrew Scheer who are doing whatever they can to keep things as fucked up as possible. And I really can’t understand why.
Why would anyone not want to do whatever they could to lessen the impact of climate change and global warming? What kind of demented asshole do you need to be to ignore these things?
I lay a lot of this at the feet of market capitalism which has created the kind of monsters whose egos are so closely tied to the amount of money they can make that they become totally one-dimensional in their thinking.
And most of them are making their money off old school shit like fossil fuels, mining, manufacturing, building, shipping and the like, all of which are responsible in great part for the climate mess we are in today.
And while the energy to power a number of these industries is being replaced by renewable sources, you can tell, just by looking at the weather patterns around the world that nowhere enough is being done.
And the reason for this, I would argue is that, in many countries in the world, these industries have bought and paid for politicians that are preventing the levels of regulation that would be required for these industries to stop or at least play a lesser role in the problem of carbon emissions that is fueling this whole fucking terrible situation.
These so called titans of industry, and the conservative politicians they own lock, stock and barrel all make me sick. And they should make you sick too.
How much fucking money you need? How much deregulation will satisfy you? How many people have to die from respiratory illnesses, or drown in floods, or get crushed in hurricanes before you’re happy?
You could argue that all of us, in a way, are complicit here. But I don’t agree. The whole economic system of the world does not give the individual consumer a whole hell of a lot of say in how products are made.
What it does instead is promise them a whole bunch if good shit if they buy the product. It also employs a lot of them, and who is going to risk their job or career over a little bit of pollution? Because that’s the ultimatum that most people are confronted with in this life and how it’s spun to them by their bosses.
Our lives have been totally controlled by the businesses that employ us. And they can only afford to employ us if they can remain profitable. And they can only remain as profitable as their egos demand if they don’t really have to answer for all the crap they are doing to make their products in the first place. This is a sad state of affairs that has let to the sorry-ass state that the world is in right now.
Some countries, the more enlightened ones, are making changes. trying to minimize the amount of poison their industries are creating.
But this ‘some’ needs to be ‘all'. And this will only happen when the greedy bought-off assholes are no longer in power. When politicians start looking at the big picture instead of what’s in it for them.
Until then, they will bullshit you at every turn. Tell you that climate change is a hoax. Tell you that CO levels in the atmosphere are just fine. Tell you that industries need to be deregulated in order to keep the economy healthy. Tell you that alternative energy industries don’t employ as many people as fossil fuel industries.
They will bullshit you till the fucking cows come home, but it won’t change the reality that exists out there.
We’re as close to being as totally fucked as we ever have been as a species. And unless the world start to embrace internationalism and share ideas and then have at balls to implement and support them, we will be gone before you know it.
Pfffft.

The rant are actually a gestalt that keep me from internalizing all this shit and damaging my soul and body. I have have faith as well. It's just that much harder to do when you are so close to the epi-centre of destruction in Washington. You can small it all the time.

I disagree selfish people wholeheartedly support change that suits them and relentlessly block change that doesn't. It's true though that they don't subscribe to the common good, or appreciate the bigger picture as reasons to change.

I agree. Change is only successful if those involved embrace the change willingly. As the joke goes How many Physcologists does it take to change a light bulb? One. But only if the light bulb really wants to change. Funny but true.

I have no idea what that means. Change is not inevitable unless there is the will to change.
