It's Either Write An Original Post Or Paint The Downstairs Bathroom
Decisions, decisions.I just put my wife on a bus to Toronto where she will be doing a round of visiting. Right after I got up this morning I masked off the downstairs bathroom and will be painting it forthwith. I have to do these things when my wife is not around because she is allergic to paint fumes, as she has pretty several asthma and allergies.
So here's a hodgepodge of stuff I did this week, so I can go paint the damn bathroom.
1. Trumptorial. I do one of these a day on Facebook. This is one of my faves.
"I have decided that until he is impeached or worse, the only news I am going to watch about Adolph Trumpler is that which is delivered by comedians. This way I can get a laugh and avoid all that fake news. I am also going to keep a tiny paper bag by my chair so that if KellyAnn Conway shows up on TV I can just hold the little bag up and pretend it's actually over her head. She gets uglier every time I look at her. And that's really the whole thing of it, you know. It's all just so motherfucking ugly. Ugly expressions. Ugly intentions. Ugly souls trying to take over a country whose apathy at being used in this way seems even uglier than all the rest of it. I keep thinking that we're all just sharing the same ugly dream. And it may very well be the case. Time will tell."
2. Lyric of the Week: Writing lyrics is one of the things I enjoy doing most. I have almost 400 of them now. And am constantly tinkering with them.3: Echoed Voices: This is a series I started to showcase some of the more profound things I come across in my reading. This one is from my man Bob Hoffman, who knows more about the reality of marketing than anyone I know.
4. Man With A Camera: These are some of the images I found this week.
5: The St Catharines Journal: This one was written on the day Bell Canada's huge event in support of mental health. My Facebook friend, the lovely Christine Camirand, also contributed to this post.
ST CATHARINES JOURNAL ( WEDNESDAY JAN 25)
Last night was one of those nights that I just slept like an all-pro dead guy. Didn’t get up until 10:30. If I had a job I'd have certainly been fired by now.
One of the reasons I think I slept so well was because I stopped reading a rather boring and tedious book and started reading another one that was a lot better. It’s one of the books in the Martin Cruz Smith Arkady Renko series that started with Gorky Park. I love detective and spy stories that are set in other countries, especially those that are as sublimely corrupt as Russia. I won’t tell you about the one I gave up on, but it was pretty lame.
So, for me at least, there’s a lesson here. Be prepared to abandon any book that bores you, especially if you read at bed time.
Yesterday we went out Fourth Avenue to the big stores and checked out Dot for some deck furniture. We have about an acre of deck out the back but we are primarily looking for stuff that will go under our gazebo. We were advised, if you can believe it, to come back in mid March when all their summer stock will be in. I’m no longer surprised at retail people who give you honest advice, This town is full of them.
This morning after some coffee and some emailing, I tackled the ugliest room in the house, the basement work room. Our basement is divided into three areas…the hanging out area with the gas stove and carpeting, the laundry room where my sauna will eventually go and something we call the back back room where all the junk we never seem to use but evidently can’t live without is stored, along with two work benches, the table saw and the furnace. This room is pretty much a mess and a two day job at best. But I got a good start today which included getting rid of about a mile and a half of coax cable that we don’t need anymore because our world is wireless and even if we were to go back to cable, the installers would insist in setting up their own.
After that I spent an hour on the phone with my pal, super art director guy John McLachlan discussing a branding we are doing for a strategic consultant in Toronto.
It was kinda sorta one of those stay at home days. I went out tonight to see about getting Heather’s old cell phone unblocked so I could use it for my cheapo Telus account. But you have to do that online which will undoubtedly turn into a whole lot of bullshit and time I will never get back. But we will muddle though. We always do.
Today was also the Bell “Let’s Talk” day to support mental illness and I teamed up with an old friend Christine Camirand who wrote a nice little piece on being positive. I incorporated her piece into this post: https://www.bebee.com/…/a-message-about-mental-health-posit…
Tomorrow, I’m going to start researching networking groups in this area and get myself out to meet some of the local business people and dazzle them with my big city charm. LOL.
PS: Another good pizza from Pete’s Pizza Lakeshore.

I never use the term myself. I don't believe he is that. He certainly hasn't proven it to anyone. I'm pretty sure even Hitler would be telling him to ease up.
