Thanksgiving In The City

Thanksgiving In The City

8655b78f.jpgFrom the perspective of where we live now, anything on the other side of the Burlington Skyway is called The City. I don’t go into The City too much, mainly because, other than for family stuff, I don’t r really have to. But on Monday, that’s exactly where we did go.

My son’s house has replaced ours as the family gathering spot . And that’s fine because his two sons feel much more at home there and that’s great. This gathering included me, Heather, my sister, Sharon, Heather’s brother Blair and his wife Sherral, who live out east near Brighton along Lake Ontario, my daughter, Star and her husband Ben, and of course my son, Dan, his wife Melissa and the Fabulous Mur Bros, Rowan & Ryder.

2dc3d0ff.jpgThis was pretty much the biggest Thanksgiving mob we’ve ever assembled. As you can see this was a serious feast. Turkey, and tofurkey, excellent stuffing, marshmallow yams, scalloped and mashed potatoes, and some vegetables which shall remain nameless, because I forgot what they were, and of course a multitude of desserts.

Since we moved out of The City, I have come to value these family gatherings probably more than I did when we lived there. Maybe it has something to do with not having the main responsibility. Whatever. We had a great time and it was a most excellent feast and family love-in. And because the kids go to bed early, we even made it home in time to watch the Yankees get creamed by the Red Sox.

Jim, nice to see a family close enough to savor a holiday like this. All the best.
