The Sadness Of The Madness
I can feel the sadness of the madness
As it ripples through the air around me
As it flickers in the light shows of this life
And as it thunders through the anger
Of all those who feel it too
I can feel the sadness of the madness
In the lyrics of the songs
Created by those who would much prefer
To be singing of joy and love and peace
But who have had that privilege
Taken from them by the sadness
By the madness and their moral imperative
To rage out against it
I can feel the sadness of the madness
In the screams of the world’s lost souls
Who have nowhere to turn
No plan B, No fucking 401 K
No alternative to choose
Who die at authoritarian borders
Where only the rich are allowed to pass
I can feel the sadness of the madness
As it bangs around bouncing off
The walls of my skull
As stories of the sadness play out
Like so many scratched records
Repeating and repeating
“We are the world…we are the children…”
I can feel the sadness of the madness
In the tears that run down my face
As my empathy careens out of control
And my head bows deeply
And I wish we were all anywhere but here
And not inside this sadness
I can feel the sadness of the madness
In the arrogance of the entitled
As they seek to separate the world into
Two parts and want to give nothing
To the part that is not theirs…only take from it
Yes I can feel the sadness of the madness
Almost everywhere I turn these days
Sometimes subtle
Sometimes right up in your face
Like some idiotic road rage battle
That nobody ever can win
I can feel the sadness of the madness
Late at night when I allow my mind to reflect
And see that reflection is cloudy and murky
And would probably drive me to despair
If I stared at it for too long
I can feel the sadness of the madness
As the body count of the innocent rises
Blown up…blown away…
Taken from this life by the wave of madness
That knows no borders
And has no conscience
But I know I have felt this way before
Perhaps too many times
And I know that there is a far side
To all the sadness and the madness I feel today
A tomorrow where things are not the same
Maybe better, maybe moving in the other direction
And all we have to do to make it so
Is believe…just believe

We bought a new desk chair for my wife. I came in about 50 pieces and three hours of confusion I will never get back.

Hey Jerry. These things are exorcisms. I don't really feel all that sad. In fact, we're going to Ikea today and that always makes me happy.
