Congenital Heart Defects Awareness

Promoting awareness of Congenital Heart Defects is one of the primary tenets of the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation. "A DAY FOR HEARTS" offers this vibrant online community of caring, generous people like you the chance to take on a humane cause.

Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) are birth disorders of the heart that affect 8 out of every 1,000 children born alive. This group of lethal diseases affects millions of newborns and infants around the world, claiming the lives of thousands of children every year.

On February 14th every year, CHD awareness building happens through "A DAY FOR HEARTS", a global event to heighten awareness about heart defects in children. We aid this initiative through sharing information, resources and support to anyone whose life has been touched by congenital heart disease.

Dr Mani says

Let’s fill in those empty spaces with another child’s smile. Be part of a program that has sponsored life-saving operations for 137 little children.

I'm Dr.Mani, a pediatric heart surgeon and author. I raise funds to sponsor heart surgery for under-privileged children in India. On this blog, I'll share my thoughts, travel photos, fitness tips and book reviews.

CHD Awareness

Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Day

A DAY FOR HEARTS gives our vibrant networked online community the chance to take on a humane cause: Promoting Awareness of Congenital Heart Defects.

Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) are a lethal constellation of birth defects of the heart that affect millions of newborn infants and children worldwide; a killer that claims thousands of lives every year. Eight of every 1000 children born alive (0.8%) will have some form of congenital heart defect.

On this special day, February 14th, A DAY FOR HEARTS, a concerted global effort is being made to heighten awareness of this deadly group of diseases. We at Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation support this event by offering information, resources and support to those whose lives have been touched by Congenital Heart Defects.
