Personal Empowerment: Useful Steps To Own Our Emotions
How do we feel? I mean, how do we really feel? Some of us might worry about these questions. What if someone really would find out how we were doing? What if we would become transparent and reflect the truth of who we really are deep inside of us? Would people still like or love us? Would we be accepted as we truly are?
What if we could not answer the questions above? No courage to express our emotions. What if we have learned to look the other way when real emotions arise? Some of us might have learned to stop feeling. Depending on the sort of environment in which we have been raised. The good news is that it is never too late to listen to ourselves.
1. Connect with the most powerful source: we.
When was the last time we did an emotional check on ourselves? We are good at asking others how they are doing. Sometimes we might even show honest attention to the answers given. But what is going on inside of us? Do we honor each and every emotion? Do we create enough space to let each emotion come and go?
2. Feel emotions inside the body.
Where do we feel our emotions? Let us try to locate them. This is important. We need to see ourselves as a map. On the map there are seven major meeting points (our chakras, energetic centres). Chakras can be blocked. Unhealed emotions can build obstacles inside our chakras. To heal specific chakras we need to locate the emotions in our energy body.
3. Allow and accept all emotions.
We must unlearn to judge ourselves when we feel emotions. Emotions are not good or bad. They are just messengers of information. Our subconscious mind talks with us through our emotions. Let us not take them for granted. They are our best advisors. Our friends in need. Accepting their existence and value opens the door to growth from the inside out.
4. Let us not define ourselves in terms of our emotions.
Emotions tend to act as ocean waves. Temporary guests. We do not need to define ourselves via our emotions. We are not sad. We might feel sad. The next day we sense happiness. There are many options available in the variety of emotions. Our essence is untouched. We are who we are. Always. Our emotions can change.
5. Write emotions down in a journal. Do this. Daily.
It is advised to write our emotions down. On a daily basis. It makes us more aware of our emotions. Increased awareness leads to more understanding. More understanding generates more acceptance. Why do we feel what we feel? What type of emotions do we feel most of the time? Has it always been like that?
6. See the patterns hidden underneath the emotions.
Emotional patterns tell us more about the direction of our lives. We still can modify the direction if we open up for the structure within the emotional process. Does the outcome serve our well-being? Or do we need to break the patterns and take another road? The choice is always ours. We create our own life. Consciously.
7. Detect the information behind the emotions.
The emotion as such is a messenger. Let us translate the message. It tells us something about ourselves. What do we need to know about parts of ourselves? Are there some old beliefs we need to eliminate? Are there some experiences we need to stop repeating? What advice do our emotional friends have for us?
8. Translate the information into opportunities for personal growth.
Personal growth is a beautiful step towards becoming more whole. Every opportunity we get to become a better version of ourselves should be respected. Emotions help us to become more ourselves. They support us on our journey towards authenticity. When we change ourselves for the better, we become better partners for others too.
So, how do we feel today? How do we really feel? Every answer is accepted. No good or bad. How do we want to feel? Every answer is accepted too. We choose our life. As long as we own our emotions, and we are in peace with them, we are authentic beings. Authenticity is priceless.
