Rosemary's Blush
She felt awkward. The way he stared at her. In the library. She had been looking for a book that would take her to another level. A world yet to discover. The rain against the windows made peace with the month of September. After a long hot summer it became finally worthy to give it all. It was not holding back. More rain and more windows to cuddle. Perfect weather for libraries and their loving guests. The book covers tried to win her attention. One by one. Her eyes continued. To find the right story.
He noticed her. There was something about Rosemary. Indeed, he knew her name. Just like that. Her body was aligned with the book shelves. Ensuring she remained part of the whole. He saw her beauty and could not stop watching her. She felt the uninvited attention and turned her head. Two dark eyes meeting her area of awareness. He talked to her without saying one word. She was not pleased. The awkwardness overwhelmed her, yet she blushed. Pink petals blush. She did not know that she could produce that sweetness of color.
He saw the pink and liked it. Even more intrigued by her appearance. 'Can I make you a suggestion?', he whispered. She refused to speak. Her pride was taking over. He was not afraid. Too brave to back off. He grasped a book with a meaningful title. Building bridges between the book cover and her soul. She looked for a way out, but the library was full of people that night. The weather invited them all to spend time inside. As if it was all planned long ago. Part of a scene and roles divided beforehand.
She was blushing … for a while. Time was endless in this moment. He turned the book to her so that she could read the title. Her eyes moved. Against her will. Curiosity took over. From the left to the right. The letters were cool about it. Getting ready for the full discovery. She saw how his body language changed. He became soft and totally accepting. Her heart beated slower. Their hearts were talking to each other already. The title was funny. Somehow. She laughed. Was not planning to. He caught her laughing and laughed with her.
Her blush disappeared and made room for a new chapter. The pages were not blank and said what needed to be said. He gave the book to her and she opened her hand. Her fingers around the book cover. The paperback version felt smooth. Almost like velvet. Dark green velvet. Rosemary stared at the title: 'I belong to you'. She opened the book and walked to the first page. A writer's foreword. She found out that the writer wrote the book for Rosemary, the woman, he always loved.
Rosemary recognised her name and got more into the story. While she began to read more, he collected in time lapse every movement of ther body. He was patiently awaiting until she was ready to give him attention. She smiled. She became silent. She loved every word and every sentence of that writer. Felt like home. Touching her deeply. He was so familiar with her that he felt blessed. The book written in the past tense but with a magic impact on the future. She only had to sign up for it. In a corner there was a pencil and a paper. The pencil moved. The paper too. It was done.
