Stardust Magic

'Be thoughtful', said the moon, 'these are new stars. Treat them with extra care.' The sky laughed. His beard was long enough to break the fall of every star. He was confident - maybe too confident - that he was able to catch each one of them. Always. Forever. The little stars were excited that their time had come and looked forward to shining brightly. For months they have been doing their exercises. They attented every night class to understand what starring truly meant. Patiently they could observe how the bigger and older stars appeared on stage. How they moved, how they inspired the whole universe. They were impressed. Could they ever be as brilliant as the older stars? Humble and gentle the little stars prayed that they would have the courage to make a mark on the world.

The moon watched the cosmic calendar and was aware of the divine timing. The sky was ready to welcome his new friends. Wise as the sky was, he did not speak. He knew that stars needed all their concentrative power. The show could start. The new stars were invited to demonstrate their competences. They all completed their starring studies with excellent grades. But that was theory. And theory is not equal to practice. The most courageous star started to perform. He was the first light that night. What a beauty. What a mastery. Pure Art. The next star was launched. Another one. It went smoothly. Everything seemed perfect. As in a movie. They were such bright students. The moon and sky were touched and very proud of them. Suddenly something went wrong. The last star lost his balance and fell deeply. Panic. A scream.

It happened quickly and the sky was too old to react sooner. Before the sky could solve the matter, the star already touched the ground. Unconscious for hours. Once awake, the little star cried softly. He felt so alone. Completely on his own he started to move to get some support somewhere. A house appeared. The star knocked on the door. An old lady welcomed the little star. 'What can I do for you', said the old lady, 'why are you here?' The star explained what happened to him. The old lady smiled. 'Oh, you are unique', she said, 'not every star has the courage to leave his tribe and to make the best of the new situation'. The star felt at home, somehow the words of the old lady gave him a reason to stay. The old lady believed in him and gave him all he needed and much more. The star was the hero of the village and to show his gratitude for this warm welcome, he turned every wish of the old lady and her friends into reality. They lived happily ever after. With a touch of stardust magic.
