This Story Is Not A Fairytale

There is no once upon a time. There is no king. There is no queen. There is no such thing as an happy end. The story has not started yet. The scenarios wait patiently to be written. The universe is taking a break. The writer imagines how the main characters are told that they will be part of the story. The door bell rings. It is late after midnight. The wind blows. The curtain that covers the window moves. A gentle voice speaks. Courageously she opens the door. She recognizes his voice. It reminds her of someone she knew from a past life. He wears the same clothes. He did not change at all. His eyes observe her reaction.  She feels how he touches her heart. Tenderly. Slowly. She is shy. His luggage stands in the doorway. His eyes invite her to step back.

He gives her a present. She opens it with trembling fingers. Her heart beats faster. A piece of paper falls on the floor. The words are written in light blue letters. She repeats them one by one: "You are in the tv show". She looks at him. He laughs. He confirms the message: "You have been selected among so many candidates, darling." She is excited and forgets her shyness. He is the main director of the biggest television channel worldwide. He wanted to bring her the message himself. In person. This is not a fairytale. This is really happening. She is not a queen. He is not a king. This is not the happy end yet. The story starts here. She asks him if he wants coffee. His eyes turn bigger. His excitement grows. The tv plays in the background. They talk for hours. No silent moments. So many things to share. The clock ticks.

Her long hair moves gently with her when she leaves the table to give him more coffee. It touches playfully her shoulders. He notices how time had no impact on her. Her elegance is breathtaking and mesmerizing. They know each other for ages. What a blessing to be united again. Pictures of a happy family are decorating the walls. Once upon a time she fell in love. She married the man of her dreams and felt like a queen. Her husband was proud as a king the day he could call her his wife. He holds a little baby. Picture perfect. This was long ago. She still remembers it. She treasures the memories deep in her heart. The story counts so many chapters. And now she is invited to tell her story on tv. She is so grateful. Then she walks him to his bedroom. It is early morning. A charming kiss on his cheek. He is surprised. She whispers him goodnight. Tomorrow is another day ...
