How to learn in the right way?

How to find the most effective and suitable ways of learning? First, ask yourself 3 important questions.

How to learn in the right way?

1. What should I learn?

So it turns out that we are constantly developing. For one day you can read a book about the world war, try out a new recipe for pasta and practice using smarty templates. But as far as our opportunities in development would not be immense, they will never be limitless. It's like in a store: you go to a supermarket, with a limited amount of cash. You can afford different products in different combinations, but you can not buy the whole store.

It's the same with knowledge. You will never know everything! Therefore, your development plan must be carefully thought out.

  • 1.1 Study only what is interesting

Let's try the proof from the opposite. Remember what happened at the institute on unloved subjects:

- these items are "given" worse than the rest

- have to look for some artificial substitutes for natural motivation

- training is always postponed at the last minute, most often - on sleepless session nights

Yes, and hardly you want to devote life to unpleasant activities, so this knowledge is simply not useful.

What conclusion? Run away from knowledge, the receipt of which does not give you a pleasure. Look for those that bring joy.

  • 1.2 Learn only what you can apply

Applicability of knowledge can be different. Something can be applied at work, something at home, something in your favorite hobby. But what happens to knowledge that does not find its use?

It's a "dust", which doesn't bring you any joy or benefit. And gradually, like everything that we do not use regularly, we forget.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with that. Just remember that your resource is limited? Are you ready to give up other, useful and pleasant knowledge, for the sake of dust?

2. For whom to learn?

The question sounds strange, yes? Of course, we learn for ourselves!

  • 2.1 "The parents said..."

We often do not choose higher education ourselves. Sometimes we do not need it and buy custom term paper to do all the homework. Sometimes we want something else. But many do not want to clash with their parents, and go on about.

What does this lead to? Who is the winner? Parents who made the child unhappy? Hardly.

Look for yourself, do not go on an occasion!

  • 2.2 Corporate Development Plan

Many companies are implementing the practice of creating a corporate development plan for their employees. This is a noble occupation, for which they need to shake hands, say "thank you" and generally thank you in every possible way, but... Sometimes this process is done not the best for the employee way. Management is interested in the effective use of resources by the company, and not in your benefit as an employee.

Companies often benefit from the fact that employees work long hours in the same position, achieving maximum efficiency in performing the same tasks. If you also want it - welcome.

But if you want to grow, you need to develop and get knowledge for the expected position, and not for improving skills in the current.

  • 2.3 On the dispute!

Recently, at work, my colleague pointed to my low qualification for one issue, which was not related to my field of activity. My first reaction was: damn it! It is necessary to find out urgently! At the tire shop, I also recently felt awkward: how is it, I do not know what is fraught with the wrong departure of the discs!

The first reaction in such situations is to find out! To be no worse, to know no less... But "reaction" is not a choice! To study something to prove to someone is not serious and meaningless. Do you really need it?

3. How to learn?

Training can be theoretical and practical, emotional and analytical, and the interface can be books, coaches, trainings ...

Let's say there is a goal: "I want to learn C ++ for 21 days". It's interesting (like) and useful (it fits into our career growth).

What to do next? How to learn?

  • 3.1 We choose practice instead of theory

You can read a book, articles, but what will it give? To effectively acquire skills, you need to set a specific task for yourself, the solution of which will be compatible with obtaining a new skill.

For example, now there are a lot of books and articles about management. So what? Most people read them, analyze them, and... and that's it! And the meaning? The result must be an experience, skill, but not useless and irretrievably forgotten knowledge!

  • 3.2 Emotion or analysis?

According to theory, people are divided into those who learn through emotions, and those who learn through the analysis of information. For the first category is important the "charge", the impetus to action and knowledge in practice. For the second group it's important to profound volume of information for analysis, such a stack, after filling which a person becomes ready for new actions.

If you look closely, the authors of the books, leading the trainings, also fall into these categories. Someone is charging more, and someone is filling up with information. "Emotional" students die from boredom over books full of theory, and at lectures overloaded with information. And "analyzers" consider as empty chatter the well-spoken statements of "emotional" trainers and authors of books.

Choose suitable teachers, coaches, books. According to their descriptions, it is usually very easy to understand which type the author belongs to.

  • 3.3 "What will I do next week"

Well, you read an interesting article, a great book or attended a training you like. What's next?

Make a list of specific actions that you will implement in the next 7 days to consolidate the information received.
