Artificial Intelligence (AI) was once reserved exclusively for science fiction novels and movies. But, as scientists begin to more fully wrap their head around its many applications, it is becoming more and more of a central part of the technology sector. That is why the following list of the top three factors currently influencing AI development has been assembled. The factors, in no particular order, are as follows:

Neural Networks can be thought of as the way a machine “learns” something new. They can learn millions of new pieces of information every second, far faster than any human could in an entire lifetime. Recent advances have helped it stride even further. For example, machines long had an extremely tough time differentiating photos from one another and were unable to recognize things that the average human could identify almost instantly. Now, thanks to new neural programs, computers are beginning to understand the way images are created which can then be utilized in a variety of applications such as giving more accurate image search results.
Computing architecture improvements
Processors need to be extremely fast in order to work with artificial intelligence. Whereas they were once thought of as things to be used in very specific applications such as those that need the highest level of graphics, processors of higher quality have recently been in extremely high demand across all sectors. Massive data inputs require top of the line computing architecture which engineers and scientists are rapidly working on developing. As this technology continues to improve, the uses of AI will only expand.
Large data sets are now available
In order to “feed” artificial intelligence programs, scientists need to have access to very large data sets. In the past, this was limited by very manual processes that were extremely time consuming and also required vast amounts of storage that were not available at the time. Now, thanks to cloud technology, it is easier than ever to access absolutely massive data sets in a fraction of the time and utilizing only a fraction of storage space. As artificial intelligence receives more inputs, it will be able to output far more than was ever imaginable.
It goes without saying that this is the best time to be interested or involved in the fields of engineering and technology. It will be exciting to see how these realms continue to change, especially as public opinions of artificial intelligence and like technologies become all the more positive.
